How Long Till I Feel Normal Off Methadone

I have been on methadone for chronic pain for 15years. 2 1/2 years ago I was on 180mg a day. I started tapering off a year ago first 5mg every 10 days then the last 6 months or so I went to 5mg every 7 days.was doing fin till I got down to 10mg but keep pushing through it.this last Friday only had 3mg then next day 2mg then this last Sunday only 1mg. Its been almost 4 days and can't sleep but maybe 20 30 min a nite and I don't really think i sleep that much.my legs feel like I've been kicked all over. And sweating almost constantly and sneezing. With tingles going through my body only hot showers help me and have to take several a day. Wen will this end I know everyone's difernt my nurse said it takes 2weeks for any dose to get out of your system is that right. Need help bad.

I went thru that and I wasn't on it long. I found out walking helped me thru it. Good luck I know how it feels. It took me about 3 weeks and its not easy.

It's been 26 months since I stopped after 14 years of use. I was on as high as 180mg. At 60mg. I began detoxing very slowly over 2 years. Nausea, fits of rage, itching all over deep under my skin, muscle cramps, and a feeling like I woke up after a blackout that lasted years. Listening to a past I don't remember.Hydroxyzine relieved the unbearable muscle-skin itch. I am still waiting and hoping for the natural endorphins and dopamine people don't realize exist until they stop come back so I feel a sense of strength and normalcy. Until then I feel uncomfortable around people and sunlight. It is getting better but my memory is very bad, I can't recall simple things. I would never go back. It was a decision I made. I don't know what to tell you other then you are not alone in your suffering and to remember that we will get better and each day is another day of healing. Good luck to you. You'll be ok.

I know your pain, I was on Methadone for 10 years, highest does was 225mg, my lowest was 149 mg. it has been 64 days for me that I just stopped. I got locked up, so I had no choice fortunately I never kicked because my mind was distracted, now I am home on Parole and I feel exhausted. I have read it takes up to 6 months to feel better, that is pretty discouraging, so I am not going by what the experts say. I am no quiter so I am not giving up this fight. Be strong and if you want to chat that's cool, at least we know where the other is coming from, by the way I am from Jersey.

I've been there and trust me there is a light at the end of the tunnel..sometimes you have to walk through hell first to see the light of day ..got up to 115mgs of methadone a day at my clinic, went there for 2 1/2 years, tapered down 5 mg each week till I got to 30mgs. When I got to that threshold I started to really feel the withdrawal your describing, so I switched it up and started going down 2 to 3mgs a week till I got to 6mgs, then I quit going to the clinic. Took me almost 3 months to finally feel descent, but remain clean I suggest if you can during the withdrawals. Cannabis helps with appetite, sleep, anxiety, nausea, etc..if I did it you can do it...
