How Long Clonidine Withdrawals Last Cold Turkey? (Page 2)

Omg I'm f***n miserable! I didn't think I would have withdrawals this bad after only a month and a half of taking thus drug everyday. It's literally comparable to a milder xanax withdrawal. Yes, I did abuse it. I would take 3 0.1 mgs 2-3 times a day. Tolerance goes up extra quick with this drug. I have none left and I'm on my 3rd day of feeling like s***. I'm on a hundred and 30 milligrams of methadone every day, and it's not even taking care of me in the morning times because of how s***ty I feel. Woah good lord I f***d up royally lol my tolerance for things is always extra high because of how long I've done drugs. I refuse to tell my clinic and I just need some help because I can't find any info about how long it stays in the body when you stop it cold turkey. Anybody have any information for me it would be greatly appreciated so I will have something to look forward to, cause lord knows hating life right now.

Stephanie WOW....its sounds like your telling my story to a T! Exactly like you I f***ed up and started taking Clonidine. ....huge mistake. I also have super bad anxiety to were I can't breath and my heart is about to burst out of my chest and its gotten to were I've passed out. Anyways I've been taking Clonidine for about 5 mos now the last time I tookany was yesterday afternoon and I took 5 of the 0.2 & 2 of the 0.1 its to the point my tolerance is so high I'm afraid I will OD on these damn things. I have got to stop because I can't do this s*** anymore at all. I'm also on 130mgs of Methadone. So after 6 days you gelt better? Every time I've tried to stop I puke so much I just want to die. Did you experience that? Did the Phenergan help at all. Any and all help or suggestions are truly appreciated.

Hello, i have terrible anxiety and i have taken xanax and clonazapam for mine along with antidrepessents. I know how hard is it to feel so bad.. I currently take 0.5 of clonazapam once in the morning and it doesn't help so my dr prescribed me clonidine to take at night 0.1 but, i am afraid to start it. I have normal blood pressure so it just makes me more anxious thinking about taking something that could cause my body more harm than good. Then on the other hand i hate feeling anxious 24/7.. I have never abused my meds but believe me I know the physically form anxiety takes on your body. I started exercising and this has helped me tremendously. I also eat healthy. It really works wonders.

I do understand! My fiancé suffers anxiety when around large crowds of people and it's awful to see. I know you have absolutely no control over it.

Have you tried seeing a psychiatrist to see if they might be able to help more?

It's been 2 weeks, and my clinic has not said one word to me. I don't see my regular primary care physician often, and I don't plan on it. I hate doctors because of how they make me feel. A lot are completely uneducated about addiction, and assume all addicts do nothing but drug seek. The reason I mentioned the blood pressure is because mine is usually 110 over 70-80. To me that seems high. I don't know, I just feel like maybe there is a medication out there that she could have given me to help with the withdrawal itself. Doctors are always so scared to help. I would have just stayed home if I knew that she wasn't going to do one thing for me. But like I told her, I'm just going to chuck this up as a mistake on my part, and completely abstain from use of this drug ever again. People with anxiety conditions such as mine will try to do anything and everything they can to call me in your eyes because it takes on a physical form to tour body. I don't have to even be anxious or nervous about something to feel the physical pain of anxiety all over my body. For the first two weeks Clonidine was perfect. I literally can't take any medications for my anxiety, which is absolutely apparent now. I've tried different antidepressants and can no longer take benzos. Guess I'm just going to have to ride the rest of my life out in anxious hell. Ty for your input.

I am very sorry, but also very glad that you're feeling better.

The elevated blood pressure was likely due to a rebound effect and those numbers aren't considered dangerous, which is most likely why the doctor didn't do anything about that. It's high, according to the NIH charts, but not so high that you'd be at risk of a serious cardiac event and some of it was also probably due to the way you were feeling, as well.

If you went to an express care, your regular doctor and Methadone clinic will probably find out about this, anyway. It will be noted in your medical records, so coming clean with them about it would probably be the best thing to do.

When do you see your doctor, again?

Hey, thanks for the reply...thank the Lord of was only 6 days. I literally went to an Express care 9pm that next night, and broke down to the doctor. As expected, she would not do one single thing for me, even though my blood pressure was up to 152 over 99. This is the reason addicts usually hide what's really going on with them. She gave me some phenergan for the nausea, with a nice little scowl on her face. She told me to tell my normal doctor about it,which I couldn't do because I could have been thrown out of my methadone program. I feel a hundred percent better now and I won't ever touch that s*** again! Never in my wildest dream did I think a blood pressure medicine would cause that much trouble!

Hello, Stefanie! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry about what you're going through.

It can vary from person to person, but may take a month, or so, for the withdrawal effects to fully taper off and for you to feel back to normal.

Typical withdrawal effects according to the FDA information may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhea and chills.

Have you consulted your doctor? They might be able to help you with these problems.
