How Long Before Testopel Pellets Start Working? (Page 19) (Top voted first)

Just had Testopel pellets inserted in my backside. Forgot to ask doctor how long until they take effect. He's out of town.

nomad here----got blood test results back after 5 weeks of round 1 of pellets went from below300 to over 1200---no wonder I feel so good.....I hope they last awhile.

Hello, I'm 44 and I've been on Pellets for about 1.5 years now. I first started with creams/ gels and Injections. The injections worked well, but I had problems sticking myself twice a week. The Pellets work well, but only last about 3 months. I had 1400Mg implanted Feb 1st and my last blood draw on March 24th was 1140. I'm guessing my number is somewhere around 600/700 range now. I feel really well when I am 900 or above. I guess my question is... Why are the pellets only lasting about 3 months? I found a good doc in Nebraska that does it fairly cheap, but I hate going in every 3 months. Thanks

TJ -- it is so individual, it is hard to answer the question "Why?" Some guys have longer results, others are similar to you. I've been receiving the pellets for 3+ years now! and by 2 1/2 months, I feel a real down slide. As long as Doc will do and you get the good results you are, that is a good thing. Enjoy my friend.

James -- YOU have a good memory!!!! yes, I read the book and as always -- feel more empowered with more information. I'm especially concerned AND interested in the thoughts regarding the Progesterone cream information. I guess there's some reticence because my mind has always associated Progesterone w/women's issues. I continue to search, read and enlighten myself. I'm due for that PSA next Tuesday, which if "up", most certainly result in another prostate biopsy. Fingers are crossed. I will do all the "helps" such as abstaining 48 hours prior. Thanks, James.

Bob, thanks for your reply. Does anyone else get dry eyes and headaches when running low? That's kind of how I know I am getting low. Also my cognitive functions start to decline. The other problem is, it takes me about a month after I've had the pellets inserted, before I start feeling well again. So I am only getting about 1-2 good months.

Same with me. It's takes at least 3 weeks before I start to feel better and that is a bit frustrating. I ended up going to a new hormone doctor and he gave me a 400mg shot of T the same day he implanted my pellets and another 400mg shot two weeks after that. That made a big difference this last time.

I used androgel for several years and stopped working for some reason. I went to Testapel about a year ago. Just had my third implant of 12 pellets. First time my free T level was 105 and after two weeks it was 1200. A bit too high but goes down gradually. It worked great. Second time worked the same, my T level was 320 after 5 months and I just got a third implant. Implant hurt a bit for a week first time but my doc is better at it now, puts them in deeper and no problem. Good morning wood tells me it's doing its job. Libido is improved.

I believe they have peak effect in about 2 - 3 weeks. My free T levels went to 1200 3 - 4 weeks after my 12 pellets were implanted. They lasted about 5 months for me which is pretty good. Much better results than after years of

Ginger,

I have a quick question for you. My doctor wants to put 29 testopel pellets in me. I'm a big guy. 6 foot 2 and 235 pounds. Is it safe to put that many in a person? I was wondering with 29 pellets will total testosterone level only get to a certain level and my benefit just last longer with that many pellets or is 29 just insane? Thank you very much Ginger.

Brian -- I'm NOT Ginger, so excuse me for "butting in". I realize each Doc is different, but I've never heard of that many before. I DO believe my Doc is a bit conservative, but he won't do more than ten (10) in me and I had a testicle removed four (4) years ago. I'm due two (2) weeks from today and am anxious to feel good once again.

Good to hear from you. I bet you are really ready for that next round of pellets. I always get to feeling very tired and anxious those 2 or 3 weeks before getting new pellets. My doctor will usually do 15-18 pellets each time and I get right at 4 months or so of feeling great. I think my jaw dropped when he said 29 pellets which is right at 2300 mg. I've done quite a bit of reading on here and have never heard such a high number. I appreciate your input Bob and I just wondered if Ginger has seen that many before. I really appreciate everyone's support on here.

29 is insane. When I was doing Testopel, I was getting 12. 6 feet, 200 lbs

Hey! This is Ginger! There are a lot of issues to discuss...not sure where to begin! Let me say this, Testopel is definitely an option, but I don't believe it is the best option. My passion is about educating patients! I want them to be informed of their best options!

Don -- I tend to lose a bit of weight as I am more active and have more energy. Perhaps that's just my experience.

My physician got the pellets a few days ago from Walgreens specialty pharmacy.
My copay was 60 dollars.
My procedure was scheduled for today at my primary physicians office.
Today at lunch I saw another physician friend of mine and when I told him I was getting the injections he said DO NOT. He told me to eat the copyay and continue with injections.
He said the pain is really bad and lasts 7-10 days. He also said it's not a good product and stay away from it. So now I don't know what to do. One dr says no problem and the other says run from it.

I can tell you the pain is nothing to worry about at all. I don't even notice I've had a procedure done other than when I look at the bandages. I say go for it.

Don -- I would never tell someone else what to do re: their health. I can only tell you MY experiences. After removal of a testicle in 2010, my testosterone level went down to 67. I was already "low", but now "crashed". I had been on the inj's. every two (2) weeks, appreciating how it helped me. Having to travel 35 miles to urologist every two (2) weeks, Doc suggested we go to the pellets. I did and have never regretted the decision. I find the pellets are more consistent in their effects for me. Pain? I had a problem ONLY ONCE and that's when Doc didn't wait sufficient time after giving me the local antisthetic before the implantation procedure. Just two (2) weeks ago I had my 2nd prostate biopsy, knowing positive results would end my TESTOPEL implants. Thankfully, all was benign so will be getting my much-needed and much-appreciated hormone replacement a week from today. I am on a 3-month schedule and am honestly a different man within 3-4 days. Weigh all the information you have at your disposal and then make the decision that seems to be best for you. Soreness and bruising at the site for me are a small consideration in "trade off".
