How Does Sertraline Hcl 100mg Compare To 1mg Of Xanax

There are actually not comparable, at all. They are not in the same medication class and don't treat conditions in the same way.

The FDA classifies Sertraline as an SSRI antidepressant, though it also helps with anxiety. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. In order for it to work, it must be taken regularly and will take about 4 weeks to reach its full level of effectiveness.

However, Xanax is a benzodiazepine, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. It doesn't require regular dosing, but can be taken on an as needed basis.

That's true, you're comparing apples and oranges. Xanax is good for emergencies, they bring you down quickly. But it's not something you want to take everyday or it will lose its effectiveness and cause other problems too. On the other hand Sertraline needs to ne taken regularly or it won't work.
