Even I have been looking for Honvan tablet for my dad for last 4 months.
The generic name of the medicine is fesfestrol and the composition si fesfestrol sodium 120mg. I put this in Prostate Cancer Mailing list. I have got one response and looks like the medicine call DES available in US and many other countries can be an equivalent of this. However we need to get a sample and get it check by our respective Oncologists for confirmation. I will keep this list updated as I find out.

My dad was prescribed ketoconazole tablets which did not work.. Now the next try has been DES (diethylstilbestrol). We are crossing our fingers and hope it works till Honvan is back in the market.

The alternative of honvan prescribed by aiims doc didnt work and stoped now as psa level went high. doc says there is no alternative for honvan and you have to go for next step of treatment:radio,chemo thrpy.
Its pathatic indian system, a medicine isnt available in market and no one cares.

Ricky, I am on the lookout for a substitute myself.. I called cadila yesterday and found out that the raw material is still going to be unavailable for another 3 months. Till then Honvan injections may be available at smaller towns. But a long term solution to the unavailability of tablets is still unresolved.
