I recently started taking two tramadol 50 mg for severe joint pain due to RA. At the same time, my blood pressure was high (226/108) so i took 25 mg metoprolol and 25 mg losartan. Will my blood pressure drop too quickly?

I must be an exception to all the rules. Generic Mylan Tramadol 50ml 2 per day will cause my BP to get up to 212/102 even on Metorol. I just did an experiment and took Generic Amneal for several days and my BP was absolutely normal with Benicar. I take the Tramadol as an excellent anti-depressant and I swear by it. Google Tramadol and Anxiety/Depression and you will see I am not the only one. Like most, I took Tramadol for pain and realized how much better my depression was. As as recent Widow who lost my soulmate of 50 years I am having a hard time trying to believe life is worth living and the tramadol has really helped. I tried Wellbutrin, which I read had less side affects, but after one week on it I felt the most profound and overwhelming sense of hopelessness that I will never take another med for depression, ever. There is a warning on all anti depressants that it may cause suicidal thoughts for some... I am obviously one of the "some". My doctor put me on Metoprol because of anxiety and high BP but I could not sleep the entire time. She said it would not cause insomnia but I am telling you I might be be calm enough to play a cello in an orchestra, but I sure as hell am not going to sleep. After reading reviews of Metropol, many people say it can cause insomnia. She also does not believe Tramadol caused my raised blood pressure but after my experimenting I know it does. Everything seems to work reverse on me and it is so frustrating when your doctor does not believe you. At least she did research and found that Tramadol does work for depression, but you have to find the right generic. This is my first time posting on this site and I think it is therapeutic to just write about my frustrations.
Hello, Irene! How are you? Has there been any change?
These medications will not work to instantly lower blood pressure. They must be taken consistently over a period of time to have their full beneficial effect in your body, they cannot only be taken on an as needed basis.
With readings that high, you could be in danger and should see your doctor for assistance, or if you've been instructed to take these medications regularly, you should start doing so.
The FDA lists their typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.
