Hi. I've been down this road almost 30yr. With all this, anxiety, panic attacks.side effect, different meds, nothing worked. Took forever and it turned my life upside down.not happy then. Been on cymbalta 10 years, its ran its course and making me jittery and nervous and shaky and confusion and focus are bad.tried before going off and was a disaster. Now it seems better, only been three days. Taking 30mg for 14 days then switch to probably effexor xr. Unless Dr. Has better idea. I also take ativan half milligram in am and pm. I sleep better and have no panic attacks at nite with it. Wellbutrin 100. For the calming effect. Not easy when you must change things around again. But I'm just lying low, but it really seems to be alot easier now. No major problems. But I've taken cymbalta ten years and its just making me a mess now. Time to go off.i think these drugs are all meant for short term.im not having the withdrawal like I've had in past with other AD. As you see in not taking much. And actually feel better cutting down. Not all those jumpy shakey body feeling and brain fog.etc. Couldn't continue being like that.lifes too short and I want to feel good and enjoy family and my precious Bengal cats.

Hi. Thank you so much. I switched recently, to a professional facility with many different psychiatric qualified people. It was suggested I try the nurse practitioner /psychiatric nurse. I did. After they gave me a woman psychiatrist in spring, elderly and confused woman, lost all my new paperwork I filled out week before with mental health therapist.what a waste.she wasn't interested in me. I left upset. I have an excellent md. Who said I need a professional in this field to help me as he is not, I respected that and called same place for a different option for someone I could follow up with. That's how I got the np.very kind and caring, very reputable, knows her stuff. Interested in helping me get better. One visit I had. Interestingly after stating all my side effects with cymbalta, wellbutrin, and am on .50mg ativan, she said combination not good either, listed all past meds for her. Effexor xr was one ten years ago which worked and no side effects, I had my memory and was focused, worked and went back to school. Etc. All good. Dr.left. New one said new drug no side effects try, I did alright. Had I known side effects, and the struggles three times to get off. I would have not changed. Wow. So I told her this, and have been back on it one week. I'm normal again, clear, focused, no jumpiness etc. Few difficulties still of withdrawal of cymbalta, but not so bad. Weepie, sometimes.but relaxed . .75mg am. Like before. Every Dr. Has said I must get if my .50 ativan. Even now. Not quite sure I understand why, but I also went back on klonipin .50.am/pm. Totally much better. I see where ativan caused side effects too. Been on over ten years.i don't want permanent memory problems.so, so far so good.it agreed with me before, easy going off before, can't complain. I'm happy and feel more like myself. I'll never try a new drug again until its been out a while, and kinks are worked out. I learned my lesson. Thank you so much, you are right, sometimes going back on something from past that worked, may help again. I sure hope so.
Hello, Tiffster! How are you and the kitties?
It isn't really that they are intended to be for short-term use, but that some people's bodies make them that way. Sooner or later, everyone develops a tolerance to any medication that they take for a long period of time and it will stop working as well. It can take years in some people, but maybe only a few months in others and there's really no way to predict the outcome for anyone.
If there are any that you took in the past that worked well, but then you grew tolerant to them, there is a chance that they may work for you again, for awhile, since you've been off of them for a period of time, so that's something you may want to discuss with your doctor.
What type of doctor are you working with?
