My perspective is that as Pharma companies buy up quality companies like Watson, who put the required amount of the main pain-killing ingredient in each tablet, they then put in MORE fillers and less narcotic ingredient. Patently, this is why people are having to take more of these generics and often, due to them receiving less narcotic, end up lapsing into withdrawal.

Generics do have to meet certain quality and efficacy standards, under U.S. FDA law, just like the name brands do. Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, they are allowed to differ by as much as plus or minus 20%, but in most cases that actually equals a miniscule amount.
The FDA warns that narcotics carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
What particular medication are you having a problem with? Can you please post and clarify? Are there any markings on it?
