So I have been getting pain meds but the last one kicked me out. I have current insurance but my taxi missed my day to pick me up. Now I'm seeing a doctor in anthem who gives me my sleeping pill and something for pain. Now I'm taking close to 10 sleeping pills every f****n night just to sleep all night and pain meds. Anyway a doctor in AZ can help? I'm on access.

Dr. Marcia Mastrin, but you will get no other help from her. She only takes cash. Hmmm why?

In case this did not post, I just have a WARNING on who NOT TO SEE in AZ. Based on the numerous health grades and reviews on these doctors as caregiver experience, Stay clear of Dr. Mcjunkin, and Dr. lynch (the providers as Az pain specialists), as well as Dr. Picos (pain managers), they may have changed the name. If you are affected by any doctor that treat you or anyone you know like this report them to the medical board. They will blame it on the DEA for not prescribing what would be appropriate for someone's pain, when in fact, it is the greed they have and unnecessary fear. If you have a history of pain, and medications worked for you after trial and failure of everything else, they should treat appropriately. DOCTORS THAT TAKE AWAY SOMEONE'S PAIN MEDS FOR NO REASON BUT TO CAUSE HARM AND FURTHER PAIN SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE AZ MEDICAL BOARD FOR THE MALPRACTICE, ABUSE, NEGLECT AND MISTREATMENT OF THE CHRONICALLY ILL PAIN PATIENT!!! YOU WOULD NOT TAKE AWAY INSULIN FROM A DIABETIC OR TREAT HIM LIKE AN ADDICT BECAUSE THE MEDICATION HE USES EVERYDAY WORKS AND SOMETIME HAS TO BE INCREASED TO CONTINUE WORKING?? THERE SHOULD BE LAWS THAT PROTECT PATIENTS THAT ARE WELL ESTABLISHED AS PAIN PATIENTS. YOU DON'T ABRUPTLY TAKE AN ESTABLISHED PAIN PATIENT OFF THEIR MEDS; (CAUSING SOMEONE MORE PAIN AND WITHDRAWAL IS MALPRACTICE)

Based on numerous reviews and personal experience as a caregiver a WARNING on who NOT TO SEE for pain. Stay away from Dr. McJunkin, Dr. Lynch (AZ pain) and Dr. Pico (pain specialists) in AZ the entire staff at both practices only serve to expensive tests, procedures (that do no work), insult the patient and take away meds that work for them. Yes they tell me the same thing. I'm fusturatd because what the want me to go thru I already have. Even a surgeon has told me there is nothing he can do my back is to bad. The only thing he can do is a back fusion but only a 50% chance it will work with those odds he won't do it. I don't get it I have all my m.r.I and x-rays to prove I'm in need of my pain meds. Don't know what to do.

I am a 51 year old male who has been on roxicodone for 15 years or more. I have severe pain throughout my body. In 1998 I was diagnosed and treated for non Hodgkins lymphoma. I was in my third stage and was receiving 7 treatments and one of those drugs was adriamycin which did severe damage to the organs of my body. I am not one to complain. I'm very thankful I'm still here, however I lost my dr and when I go see new doctors they don't use the roxycodones that I've been on for 15 years or more. my life is very manageable. it took me a lot of years to get my body adjusted with the medication that I was on and now the doctors want me to go see a rehab DR. I've been off my medication since December 15th and went out and cannot find a Dr who will prescribe my medication. I'm in the Pennsylvania area. However I have my 3 kids in college and a family in Arizona. I plan on spending more time with my family.

Mr Rob..thank you for your duty but....dont become another statistic. I know your pain. Not just yours but everyone on here and I feel for all of you. There is a doctor that will see each and everyone of you if you have a legitimate reason and documentation to back it up....medical records, xrays, MRI. Anything that shows your true nature of a medical condition worthy of pain management. When they ask about physical therapy be honest with them (like me i went to four therapist before i told the Dr's I refuse to go, why? Because physical therapy can cause more pain then good. Physical therapists also think your lying about your pain and pushed me to the point i had to be helped out of the office in a wheel chair because i threw out my low back...that was the last time i went). Try what the doctors advise and if you have already, then tell them you have tried it and it doesnt work, dont lie its in your medical records. He will evaluate you and you will never see him again but they will set you up with monthly appointments for your pain management with one of their many Nurse Practitioners who will help you if you are nice and honest and are willing to follow the program. DONT be rude to the NP's they will cut your meds unconditionally. Sun Pain Management Dr. Burns....Google it and figure it out. They are on Camelback Rd in PHX. Best of luck to you all, god bless, and feel better. Dont let pain control you, control your pain.

I am a 22 year (retired) veteran w/ us navy. Been going to VA (in phx.) for 4 compression fractures -laminectomy- chronic spinal arthritis - & various bone spurs in thorasic area in spine. I am sole caretaker of two disabled parents & need to be active to care for them. VA solution - tramadol - chiropractic - acupuncture. Each a.m. I take 8 Advil & lay on ice pack for 2 hours. NO HISTORY OF DRUG ABUSE! Just wanted something a little stronger to assist w/back pain as I perform my caretaking duties. Told by VA nothing more can be done. Went & got private insurance & civilian dr. He took full set of x-rays & agreed I have some very severe issues. His personal belief is to prescribe something for pain, but explained DEA prefers you try P/T & exercise. When going to VA I always felt these younger kids (& i'm 48) who are missing limbs from ied's have it much worse so I never complained as bad as I felt. I just "sucked it up". Now w/ private civilian dr. I explain dire pain I am in & told I still cannot get relief. High blood pressure readings at dr. verifies the pain. Purchased TLSO brace from e-bay to help. 12 veterans a day commit suicide due to a variety of issues. I don't believe in suicide, but given the pain I am in & giving 22 years of service for this country I am appalled at the VA's response. I have wrote letters to VA officials. No response. With no where to turn for basic pain relief I fear I may become one of those suicide stats. The hell of pain I am facing on earth is not worth the sin of taking my life. I'm lost & fear my own actions. Does anyone have any advice of how I can achieve pain relief via a dr. as my will to live like this is fading fast.

This is nuts! I am very much in the same position as the person whose old Dr. Was in trouble with the DEA and I'm a nurse! I myself cannot find a Dr. Now and I am now becoming so depressed and in pain its just getting out of control. Its horrible what pain management has done to healthcare. It may look good on paper, but its absolutely a nightmare in practice! Healthcare has gone terribly wrong in this state! Anyhoos, if they take your insurance, try Dr. David Izenberg. He is at Main/Greenfield. He is a family practice dr. I worked for his twin brother in L & D, Jeffrey. I have a friend going there and he does write her pain meds. Unfortunately, they do not take my insurance at this time, so if anyone else finds a Dr, please let me know! Its horrible that all the people I know who get medication, abuse it and those who need it, can't get it to save our lives...literally!

Have you found a Doctor yet? I'm in the East Valley of Arizona (Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert) searching for a pain management clinic with Doctor's that will actually treat pain rather than treat me like a drug seeker. I have fibromyalgia, endometriosis, sciatica pain that effects my lower back and both legs. I need a Doctor that prescribe something more than one 5mg of oxycodone twice a day. I wish I didn't need it but I do. The pain is real and debilitating.

Hi, I am in Mesa and am having the same problem, also I have been blacklisted and turned in to the CSMPS control subtance monitoring program system. All due to doctors thinking there some type of god. But they I'll soon get what's coming to them. They cannot continue to falsify records, I have reported 7 doctors in the last 3 months. Hopefully soon we all will be able to be treated correctly. Will keep you all informed. But in the mean tine I am still in need please help. Thanks, scooter

I wanted to Thank you for the information. The reason I was calling and talking to the office before going in is because I have a $35.00 co-pay for an office visit I make an appt. the Dr. comes in for 5 minutes to tell me there is nothing they can do for me. I even spoke to a Dr. office that was out of net work that was $250.00 they told me could help me when they saw what quantities I was on the Dr. said they could not help me took my money and that was the end of that visit. I still have not gotten in with a Dr. that will take over my contract. Do you know what type of Dr. deals with patients that are on a high quantity of Pain Medication? Maybe I need to go a different route. I don't know about your state but AZ. is getting more strict on Dr.'s and writing pain medication. I have been told by more then one Dr. that I am on more Pain Medication then a Cancer patient. I have worked up to this level over 5 years. If you can give me a little more advice that would be great. Thank you again. Any more information would help.

Thank you for the information. I found out that the Dr. I was seeing for 5 years didn't retire he got in trouble by the D.E.A. someone reported him because they got dropped for copying their scripts and trying to fill when the pharmacy called the Dr. he was nice to just drop the person and not have the police called on them. Anyway because he was reported and the D.E.A. did an investigation on him he got in trouble for prescribing to much meds as well as other things. Now this Dr. name is out there and when I go to a Dr. they ask who I was with I tell them and they won't do anything for me because of my old Dr. I finally found a Dr. he wrote me my scripts ordered an MRI on my neck and back. When I went in there he had the P.A. come in and tell me they wee no longer going to see me because they don't want to see any patients that were going to my old Dr. I couldn't believe it. They even called the office that my old Dr. practiced a and told them not to refer anyone to there office. How do I get around this. Obviously this was not my fault. We were all told he was retiring this was in Dec. he gave us all a three week notice. Now there is 300 people trying to find a pain management Dr. Can you please give me advice on what you think I should do for someone to see me treat me as a human being and not look at who I was going to. Is it better to try and see a Family physician to try and get help or a Pain Management Dr. It seems the Pain Management Dr.'s are looking at me like I've got a medication problem. I am on a large quantity but I got to this quantity over 5 years. I appreciate you giving me advice. The only reason I was calling Dr. office first is because I have gone to 4 doctors they take my $35.00 co-pay come in the office to say they can't help me. I'm starting to get worried that no one will help me. Detox is out of the question I have bills to pay. If you or anyone that reads this can give me more advice trying to find a Dr. again in Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa Chandler AZ. those are the cities closest to me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you again.

Hello, Dolche! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problems you're having.

However, if you're calling doctors to ask about them prescribing you such medications, you're not going to find a solution. They are taught to view that as a sign of drug seeking behavior, which is why you're being told to go to detox.

To get a doctor to see you, you need to just set up an appointment, without asking ahead of time if they will or will not prescribe your medications. Then make sure they get a full copy of your most current medical records, keep the appointment and them discuss your options with them. In most cases, if they can see what has and hasn't worked for you as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe and treat accordingly.

Is there anything else I can help with?
