Find A Dr In Or Near Lancaster Ohio That Can Prescribe Liquid Methadone For Detox Off Suboxone (Page 2)
UpdatedHello, I am looking for a Dr in or near Lancaster Ohio that can prescribe LIQUID methadone to me to get me off Suboxone. Here is a little background. I took percocets for recreation use for just over a year. In November of this year I will have been on 24mg of Suboxone a day for 2 years. Yes I have been on the subs twice as long as my addiction lasted. Don't get me wrong subs saved my ass but I am ready to close this chapter in my life and move on. I have tried several times to taper off subs and have just accepted that I do not have the will power to do so. I am a stay at home mom w an ADHD 9 yr old and a very busy 3 year old, if I have the subs I take them. So, here's where the liquid methadone comes in. There is very little "help" here in Lancaster/Columbus Ohio unless you have $250 every month to see the Suboxone dr or unless you can make it to the methadone clinic every day for dosing. I have a friend who has used to liquid methadone detox twice and was very successful. She did it inpatient at a local hospital, the reason I cannot do that is you must be pregnant for them to do it. So with all of that being said, all I need is 1 script of the liquid methadone. My friend did her most recent detox just last week and asked the pharmacist some questions regarding my situation and the pharmacist said based on my weight and what I am taking she would suggest I taper down from 12.5 ml. This is so frustrating for me. ALL I NEED IS ONE DAMN BOTTLE OF THIS STUFF!!!!! So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time:)
Re: Southern Sweetie (# 3)
Hi. Did you ever have any luck finding a doctor who would prescribe both for you?? There's only 1 doctor I'm aware of who will do that & he's in North Olmsted. I hope it worked out for you..
Methadone or Methadose which is the liquid form, can not be prescribed by a regular Dr. anywhere in the US. Its a federal law and strictly regulated by the DEA. Also, federal law dictates that no Dr can prescribe Methadone for Opiate Addiction, period. They can only prescribe it if it is intended for Pain Management, and then only in tablet form. The ONLY places that are authorized to prescribe the liquid form, or prescribe Methadone to treat any form of Opiate Dependence period, is a MAT clinic, or a hospital setting ONLY. Its not a State thing, its a US thing. The DEA has very strict rules when it comes to Methadone and in most cases, PCP's will refer patients to a Pain Management specialist or clinic if they need an opiate prescribed. That's due to their liability fears, their insurance regulations, and the Opiate crisis that kills more people daily than any other medical condition including COVID, or even car accidents. Dont allow the stigma of Methadone Clinics to mislead you into believing they are only for lifer addicts or that going to one requires you to stay on the medication longer than you want to. You are the one to decide how high you want your dose to be, and you also have the freedom to discontinue taking it at any time. Also, they not only provide the maintenance treatment for extended use, they also offer it as a Detox method, which will wean you down systematically, and over a shorter period which you can pre design with the provider to fit your specific need. So if you believe you just need a bottle, (which contains 1,000 ml with the dose being 10mg of methadone per ml and would be enough for a high dosed patient for close to a year) then you would be a perfect candidate to enroll in the detox version of the program (not the extended maintenance) which would do exactly what you have described yourself as wanting to do. And I believe you would have much more succsss and feel a whole lot better physically than one does via Suboxone. Going to the clinic 6 days a week is not the hassle its rumored to be. Most people are in and out in 5 mins or less, and they usually open as early as 5am to accommodate those who work. Don't let stigma give you false impressions. I did that myself for years until I finally faced the reality that doing it on my terms with my own ideas or plans for what would work, was not realistic, and clearly wasn't working, and I gave in and went to a clinic. Best move I could've made, I found freedom from pills and I never suffered a minute of withdrawal or discomfort again after doing so. Check into it. And something to think about when you're telling yourself that going to the clinic 6 days a week for a few minutes will still be too great a hassle.... Consider how much time you currently spend everyday hunting down, procuring, and administering your current opiate, not to mention $, and in almost every case, the time you're currently investing every day to suppress withdrawls, is exponentially larger than a quick trip to the clinic would be. (I spend more time in line everyday at the coffee stand than I did at the clinic! ) Good Luck!
