Filling Identical Prescriptions From The Same Doctor

I recieved a hand written prescription for 120 1mg xanax to last me a month, along with 5 refils. After filling the script at a well known "one stop shopping center", i was sick of the customer service so when i saw my doc next a month later i had him write me the exact same script to take to a different well known shopping center pharmacy. After paying cash because i lost my job and insurance and quit seeing my doc i still had 5 refills, and after filling and receiving my monthly script from the new pharmacy i called and found out i still had a few refills at the original pharmacy i went to. It had been over a month since my last refill so they gave me the script and i paid cash. So here i am with two identical sets of refills written by the same doctor at two unrelated places. Since the first prescription was never voided when i received the second, im paying cash for both, and i am waiting a full month at both places before allowing me a refill, am i doing anything illegal?

Yes, you are. Under current laws, it is not permitted and prescriptions are logged by the government and tracked. Eventually, this will be noted and reported to the pharmacies and your doctor.

The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

I had the same thing going on twice in my life knowing that this is illegal to fill duplicate amounts of controlled medication. How could we explain two bottles of a hundred bars with the same dates on them for example to law enforcement? It did help doing it in different States!

If you waited a month (I missed that part) you should be ok. However I'm not sure its legal to write these days for 120 with 5 refills for Xanax in that 6 month period? I had a refill of Soma rejected because doctors can't prescribe over 500 Soma in 5 months at least here in California

After refilling both scripts a week apart from each other and both a month after the last refills, im currently left with 4 refills at one pharmacy and 3 at the other. I only take from one of the bottles and stored the other away for safe keeping so i will have once both refills are exhausted as im no longer seeing my doc. If anyone did eventually catch on to me they have 4 months to do it before exhausting all refills, and unless they involved law enforcement to raid my house and break into my safe for the 4 months worth of unused bottles, there's no way im voluntarily giving them back. Prescribing me 4mgs a day alone is already too much to take, let alone 8. Also by stashing them away i can easily prove im not selling them, rather saving them because i can no longer get more from the doc. After calling a few pharmacists i was told although its not illegal, its morally wrong and should cancel one of the accounts. Being more concerned about being able to sleep at night and managing my anxiety over having a clean conscious over morality id rather continue stock piling my meds, at least until get cut off completely in the next 4 months. You don't need to explain stockpiling Xanax to me. I had not only done what you did a couple times but was getting 6 mg a month for a few years and have more than your average store. I did get rid of the duplicate bottles, and have them off site so they can't be stolen since they can't be replaced. I also have some 2013 bottles that I need to work on!

I am written 120 1mg xanex with 2 refills each time I see my doctor, which is every 3 months. Refills that pharmacies only fill each month for whatever amount should not matter amount of refills the doctor gives you, especially if you have been seeing the same doctor for a long period of time and you have had no side eeffects in that time you been seeing your doctor /taking X medication and X amount per month/ day.

Xanax does not help you sleep at night. If anything, the longer you use the drug the worse your sleeping problem will be with Xanax use. Perhaps you should Google this drug to see exactly what this drug does do. If you do get caught, you will be reported to your State Casper system and cut off for a set time, perhaps forever. In addition, your doctor will definitely get in trouble and you can be charged too. The cops are so gun ho these day's that they make charges up even if you aren't guilty, just to make a point. With the new drug laws in place, I am afraid they will see you as a seeker, with the behavior you have described yourself as doing. Good Luck!
