False Positive On Drug Test For Methamphetamine (Page 7) (Top voted first)

Hi, i am voluntarily drug testing for CPS because my daughter's father (who had physical custody) passed away suddenly due to a motorcycle accident leaving her "without a legal guardian" I have a previous history of using Methamphetamine. I am clean now or so i thought. Yesterday my test apparently showed positive for Methamphetamine. I know i haven't used. So far i have only came up with two possible explanations.

1. I just had to serve my ex boyfriend with a domestic violence restraining order. To make a long story short, not thinking, I ate some fast food that he insisted on leaving for me. And the 2nd being a cold medicine that I just remembered. I took one pill approximately 2 maybe 3 days ago called ST. JOSEPH DECONGESTANT-FREE HBP. Is it possible that this medicine caused a false positive? Thanks in advance for listening and any insight.

I am on a drug patch and I take vyvanse. Will I test positive for methamphetamine? I told them I am prescribed the vyvanse and my probation officer knows. In a 10 day period a person consumes a lot of substances and stuff that can excrete from our pores. That's not to mention prescription drugs like vyvanse.

I don't know that much about the drug patch but Vyvance most likely will show up as an amphetamine. If for some reason it would show up as methamphetamine be sure to insist on a GC/MS confirmation test which is the "gold standard" for all drug testing.

Hi, I've been on this drug patch for 7 months now and the last few patches have been coming back positive for methamphetamine and since I've been out of jail 7 months ago I've been clean and every time they said I was dirty I took a urine test and passed it, so now they're violating me. What can I do now?

I guess you could do your own Hair 5 Drug Panel test but a hair test is meant to show consistent use over time. A 1.5 inch sample will go back 90 days. You might do a search online to see what might be going on with the patch. Do a search for "false positive for methamphetamine with the sweat patch" and see what comes up. More people seem to be having the same problem you are with the false positive for methamphetamine. Do you know if they did a GC/MS confirmation test on your sample? If not they could be in for some legal problems.

I have been on suboxone for 2 years now. I went to see my doctor today and he told me i tested positive for methamphetamine. I never did methamphetamine in my life. He wants me to get blood work done to see if it would test positive for methamphetamine. Why would my urine test positive for methamphetamine? The only meds i take daily are suboxone, lisinopril for my blood pressure, cetirizine and sleeping pills.

Here is the situation.. bf was given a urine test and it came up positive for marijuana, methamphetamine, amphetamines, and creatinine (pretty sure the body makes this naturally but could be wrong). I heard today that he was tested and the number 11,777 micrograms per mL....what does this mean? If this was a false positive would this number be so high?

He does consume marijuana, he admits this. He was also taking wellbutrin, baclofen, hydrocodone, amitriptyline, lisinopril, hydrochlorothiazide... to name a few and these were all prescribed. Could his marijuana have been laced? He maintains that he has not done methamphetamine.

The marijuana could have been laced. He probably could have figured that out on the basis of how he felt during the "high" because that is a high level of methamphetamine. It's hard to say if one of the other prescriptions could have interfered with the results. Only a Medical Review Officer can answer that question. You can find an MRO at aamro.com. My boyfriend was given Dilaudid and Morphine for an on the job injury and tested positive for methamphetamine. He doesn't take or do methamphetamine. Do these two medications play a role in his drug test?

Missy, those drugs should not interfere with a drug test. I am assuming that was a urine drug test. You might want to read some of the other post but whatever lab did the drug testing should have done a GC/MS confirmation test to be sure of ALL false positives. If they used a urine dip test like you would use at home those results have to be confirmed by GC/MS.

I have a question. I am drug testing for cps and in the last month they say i failed for methamphetamine and i haven't done anything at all. They said i failed june 29th but passed the 28th and passed the 30th. That isn't possible is it? And the only medication i take is insulin cause i am a diabetic. I need advice in a bad way.

I work in the oilfield, don't do drugs. I had a hair follicle test come back positive for methamphetamine. Hair sent for GC/MS, same result.

The only med I've taken was nyquil cold and flu 1 month ago.

So yes, you can fail a hair test if you're methamphetamine-free.

Me, You might want to consult with an MRO to see what might be interfering with the test. An Medical Review Officer (MRO) is a doctor who goes thru extensive training to determine what is going on with any type of drug test. You can find a MRO at aamro.com. Thank you, I'm kind of decimated by this whole ordeal. You don't know me, so based on that, I called the MRO the clinic had given. He stated, he was on computer and couldn't find my file. Wth?

The testing lab stated, for $125 (on me) , they'll retest.

Does the retest mean they will take a new sample? Make sure the collector and the donor (you) sign and initial a chain of custody. If they didn't do the on the first sample it is possible they could have mixed up the sample at the lab or point of collection. Good luck.
