Epleptin Tablets

Can epleptin cause me weight gain? I have just started it...... I stopped takin lyrica as that caused too much weight gain!

Epleptin contains the active ingredient Gabapentin, it is in the same drug class as the Lyrica, so yes it may also cause weight gain.

Hi I have had 5 total knee replacements and 7 revisions on my right knee since 2002 due to severe Osteoarthritis. I have scoliosis in my lower back. Spondylitis in my neck and chronic arthritic gout. I started taking Tramazac 37.5mg tab 2 tabs 3 x per day and then added Epileptin 300mg 2 tabs in the morning and 2 tabs at night, with Dormonoct sleeping tablet. I also take Adco Allupurinol for the arthritic gout with potassium and neurobian daily. I also take Lasix 2 x 40mg tabs in the morning. I don't always take the tramazac, I try reduce my intake of pain meds. Epileptin works amazingly for the pain especially for the bursitis I get in my right hip and thigh area. Before I started taking the Epileptin my Orthopaedic Surgeon use to give me injections into the thigh and hip every 3 months for the bursitis. I think it was a steroidal type of injection. But my weight is a serious problem and I stopped taking the Epileptin 4 weeks ago and now the bursitis is back and I have so much pain in my lower back and right hip. If I start taking the Epileptin again is there anything I can take that can help me to loose weight. My husband and myself are on the Banting diet for 2 weeks now and I've lost 4.4kg and I don't want to put it all on again. But I can't handle the pain anymore. I would rather start taking the Epileptin again but what can I take to prevent the weight gain from it. Please can you advise me as to what to do. I'm in absolute agony everyday and can't handle it anymore.

I'm prescribing Epleptin for rheumatoid pains which has resulted in me gaining weight from 68.8kg to 80kg within 3 months. I am taking 7 (100mg doses) of these capsules daily and I want to wean myself off this medication. This excessive weight gain has reduced my self-confidence to nothing.
