I HAVE BEEN ON OXYCODONE FOR OVER 2 YEARS AND MY DRUG STORE RAN OUT AND GAVE ME ENDOCET? SAID IT WAS THE SAME THING BUT MY BODY TELLS ME THAT IT'S NOT THE SAME. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CHANGE?

Hello Jim, First of all, you have to understand that everyone's body is different! If you want to get really technical about it, then you can say that Oxycodone and Endocet are the same; but that is where the comparison STOPS!! I honestly could not care less if some proud and cocky "expert" "declares" that there is NO difference between the two!! Oh yes there is!! Definitely and most certainly: FOR ME!! Oxycodone (10-325) will stop my pain for two hours, whereas Endocet (10-325) will stop my pain for six!! Absolutely and most definitely!! And personally, I cannot stand the practice of CVS Pharmacy! If "they" do not have the brand you want, they will NOT even call you to find out if you would be satisfied with a substitution!! You must be proactive and educate the workers at your pharmacy to do the obvious, or they won't be smart enough to figure it out! No one, these days, thinks outside the box!! It is a sad commentary on the state of the intellect of our country, while at the same time it's also quite hysterical!!

It's now 2017, and as I read these old posts, it saddens me to say that ppl like Genie, whose son tragically overdosed and died, got their way, and it is now almost impossible for ppl who suffer from chronic pain to get relief. My mother is 80 yrs old, has polymyalgia and degenerative disc disease, pain so bad some days she can't walk, can't sit, can't lay down....and since her long-time dr died 3 yrs ago of stomach cancer, can no longer get the pain relief she so badly needs. She doesn't even expect to be pain-free, she just wants to be able to FUNCTION, to have some quality of life! I love my mother & it kills me to see her suffer and hear her say that this is no way to live, that she's so tired of fighting with no relief. It's tragic when someone dies of overdose, but we currently have no other options that work as effectively as opioids for relief of really bad pain, and until we do, it is UNFORGIVABLE to allow ppl to SUFFER because of what has happened to a minority of oxy users, no matter how tragic that is for families left behind! My mother will not live long, whatever happens with her pain, but should she have to suffer every day for whatever time she has left? NO!!!! And there should be a way for her to get help....sign something that says she/her family will not sue if something happens, WHATEVER! I'm sorry for every family dealing with the grief of losing a loved one to overdose, but DO NOT think that makes it right to deprive others of the only option they have for pain relief and quality of life. No one should have to live like that in this day and age....NO ONE!

Rob, you are building up a tolerance to the meds this is why you do not get the same effects as before. This will continue to happen over the months and years until you cannot find a ned that helps, dont feel bad we are all in the same boat.

My experience thus far, endocet feels no different then vicodin for pain relief- percocet has killed pain the other two have not. Why this is, I don't know except perhaps varying proportions of the opiate drug. I'm not entering an opinion, I'm simply conveying my personal experience.

I had a concern with my meds also, I was taking oxycodone and today I was prescribed endocet for rotator cuff surgery, I wanted to know what the differance was, I must say that there are some extreamly informed people on this site. Jojo may be rude or whatever be he is on top of his facts. I just took my first dose of endocet at 2:30 and it is now 2:58 and I am already getting relief from my pain. I think with any meds that alter the way a person feels they can be abused, long story short, use them to get you through the pain and use them right and be done with them!

@ Genie
I beg your pardon ! Yes, some of the people are abusers and some are not. You have no idea what kind of pain that Fibro can cause. It is just as bad as cancer pain my dear. The pain is so bad that you can't sleep, can't walk, can't open a door and hardly pull your clothes off. I was misdiagnosed for the past 10 years and guess what, the steroids that were given to me all that time has completely depleted my immune system. I have no spleen now - and just had to go on disability for the fact that this pain is so bad it is horrible. Taking more pain meds are a choice for someone. Not all people do that. I have been on pain meds for years and can put them down tomorrow if i wanted to or needed to. Sometimes I bare the pain so that I will not take the pill. I hate taking pills. But for you to say that all of this basically is nonsense and your going to close them down, pooy on you.....know who your talking to and what their problems are. Pain clinics do put people on a lot of different things, if you some went there, then he knew what he was putting in his mouth.

I really don't understand how people can judge what they haven't experienced. For people on here thinking everyone will overdose on pain meds one day is being shortsighted and very uninformed. "Most" pain managment is done through well informed and caring doctors who understand conditions of their patients and prescribe the right regimen of treatment, including pain medication to afford some of us at least a decent quality of life. I have been a migraine sufferer and have a heart defect. The two things combined do not allow me to take triptans for my migrains. Without pain medication, I would have more than likely committed suicide from pain a long time ago. Not from overdose, but from the sheer blinding madness brought on by pain. It's the walk-a-mile in someone's shoes. Of course there are bad doctors, there are abusers, there are people who will get addicted, but there also people like me and the majority on here who manage their meds, do not get addicted to them and use them as a means to live their life as everyone else can. Pain free - or as much so as possible.

To the OP: I have never been prescribed endocet. I take butal for low degree migraines, hydrocodone 7/325 for moderate and then oxycodone 7/325 combined with phenegran when the hydrocodone doesn't work. I do know from having grand mal seizures and being on a genenic form of a seizure med that I was allergic to, that my neurologist did confirm the 80% generic policy vs the 99.8% brand. When any generic is made, it can be 20%+/- any active ingredient, this includes otc drugs as well, which is why they are cheaper. A branded drug can only be within +/- .02 % tolerance on the active ingredient. My symptoms went away when I was switched back to the name brand seizure med. Fortunately, I have never experienced any kind of problem with the narcotic pain relievers or the Butal. Even from batch to batch or pharmacy / generic maker. And I have been taking them for 20 years and seen shapes and sizes change many times.

Also, to the ones who fear us "topping out" and having to continue to get higher dosage to manage.. I have only been increased by 2.5 mg in 20 years due to careful management by my doctor. And even went through a bypass surgery with the same amount. So, it can be done if you have good physicians and aren't trying to manage pain and not get "high". I think it is in the goal. A lot of people simply get that confused. But it is no excuse for anyone to lash out at the masses of pain sufferers to think we all are addicted, not managing our own pain and meds carefully, do not have good doctors and just finding any old "pain clinic", or getting the meds for other uses such as recreational. You insult and demean every person in pain without thinking of anything but your own selfishness. Just be glad and thankful to whatever god you worship that you don't suffer. I am.

While I am sorry for your loss, this is not an appropriate response to us who are pain sufferers and take pain meds to manage PAIN. Many of us have chronic pain and have been taking these meds for years without incident or increase. There is always a chance to abuse anything. Drugs included. We are not going to pain clinics to get drugs. My doctor would never prescribe that drug EVER. I am very sorry that your son could not get the true help he needed from a good doctor who understood his condition. I agree with you in regard to the pain clincs and regulation that needs to happen in Florida, which is the only state that doesn't have in-state or out-of-state communication of narcotic sales by SSN. It is why there are a lot of pain clincs there and shady doctors. But that's an issue that is actually the underground drug market as most of the sales of drugs from those areas go to the street trade and not to pain sufferers, they go for recreational use. Most pain clinics, good ones, use a variety of methods to treat pain. Most pain sufferers have exact conditions for their pain and are treated by specialists. If you have read through these comments, which I have suspected you haven't and posted out of grief; you would see things like "dental work", "herniated disk", "fibro", "migaines", "cancer".. these are not something you will go to a pain clinic for. You will see a neurologist, a oncologist, a oral surgeon, etc. I think if you read deeper, you will find people who are trying to find a quality of life that is bearable, not drug addicts. If you are interested in finding that, that is. Otherwise, I wish you good health and maybe you can find solace in some work with true drug addicts. There are plently of agencies out there looking for volunteers. NA is a great one if you want to try and reach out to help those who need it.

That is just cruel of you. Im sorry about your loss i have also lost people i cared about to pain med abuse but i been going through hell the last three years since i got in a nasty car accident trying to get some quality of life back cuz the docs are too scared to prescribe the meds i need to lose the pain and get my life back. Please dont blame doctors anyone with an abuse problem will stop at nothing to get the drugs they want legally or illegally. The doc who gave the meds must have been convinced he was in enough pain.

@ OK, in all honesty we should have the best medical care and quality of life, we pay for it and have fought hard, some have given their lives for us... until the feds intervened ad have influenced our neighbors you could get OXY over the counter in mehico, many third world nations don't have the same censorship the US has when it comes to drugs..... for some reason the feds are blaming the entire population for a few bad apples, yes there are junkies and thieves, yes they rob pharmacies but making every US citizen pay for their short comings is WRONG!! the Feds have Dr.s so paranoid anymore its ridiculous so MANY hard working honest individuals suffer a diminished quality of life, why? because federal agencies and local LEAs cant deal with the criminals they are payed to deal with?.... many 3rd world countries are much much better in respect to pain management financially and otherwise, many countries vicoden is over the counter and cheap, Canada has 222s at the grocery store? it really is a tragedy whats happening in this country, and calling people whiners and suggesting they just be quiet isn't the answer to anything other than communism, and my ancestors didn't fight for this nation to hear anything like that!

Your wrong, it's oxycodone HCL. Look at a bottle @ your pharmacist. The sad thing is it's only 8.9367 percent equivalent. The same w/ all generics, would go to Watson, but since they are no more & are not in business the next best is endocet, the same makers of true Percoset before they lost the patent, the just make a generic now to. Actavis, bought out Watson PHARMACUTICALS, & that's why I had to switch to these from norcos, so maybe Actavis has the formula right for Watson, ( they still use their name & imprints just helps $$ ) I'm curious if since they destroyed the yellow norcos, & the are white & EVERYONE IS HATING THEM, HOW COULD THEIR PERCOSET BE GOOD. who is the best brand??

Please don't you know Endocet, is a generic form of percoset. It's mixed w/ Tylenol. That being the 10/325. 10 Mg's. Of oxycodone HCL., & ( actually 8.937 & this goes for all Generics.) I don't think you read your post prior to posting it, as I read it & hear you thinking you were suppose to be prescribes just 10 Mg. Of pure oxycodone HCL, WHICH IS NOT MADE IN THE US. Only comes in 5's, 15's, & 30's. & it's called roxicodone. Now this company makes a generic form of that, so very tiny. I have had them & I will say their better than nothing, but truly Mylan has the best generic in them. My point being, is endo PHARMACUTICALS is one of the last true US made medicines & I think they are good & next to Watson. I want to try Watson, but being they truly no longer make the medicine, it's made by Actavis now & since as I saw noted on here by a pharmacist as well, they destroyed the yellow Watson ( norcos ) the say only thing changed is the removal of the yellow dye, since they still have the same imprint & logo. Anyone have currently filled w/ Watson ( actually Actavis, ask the pharmacy to read you the name on the bottle they have, or google Actavis buys Watson & "Watson formula change" . Anyone have up to date quality info on them being their now made by Actavis?

Reply to dauhtucanstop' sorry on spelling but the other person is correct. When the say that being it's less, well it's both right & wrong, wrong in ethics & indeed can be hard to understand. If you get your hands on a name brand bottle it says the same thing * equivalent to 8.9637. Yes the are actually using less of Oxycodone only a milligram but if you take over 5-6 a day it adds up & it's sort of a tricky lil pickle that they're doing, you the the HCL., part after oxycodone is very much needed to complete the delivery of the pills properties, ( pain ) & the fact is, by adding the salt to the finished product is not fair. A good example that even got me was that if you look at lortab 10/325 by the same company being endo or vintage pharmacuticals, & this is hydrocodone & it's not mixed w/ an HCL., instead w/ a bicarbonate, & the bottle from the company says 10 Mg of hydrocodone bitartrate. So thus it's an acid & not a salt, regardless they must use it as well to activate the hydrocodone like the HCL does for the oxycodone. If they did this & made hydrocodone HCL., it would be much stronger & more natural, as it's more structured like morphine & oxy well it's a great pain killer, just feels fake & more synthetic ( I know it's made using poppy Thebaine. I'm currently about to graduate in chemistry w/ my major in medicine. I think the issue is that of greed & also the Government playing w/ & regulating our medicines. This so called drug war has long failed & needs to end. Pills are killing more people than H here in the south & it's both sad & not good for all us true pain patients. I personally am grateful to even have relief & monies for now to cover my meds., I ask for endocet by name. It's a much better quality generic & trust me since this medicine is likely made in large raw forms & pressed into pills, I'm sure they make one batch not two & sprinkle a lil more oxy on the others. I will say that they should not include the salt in the weight of what we get the 10mg prescribed for. I hope this helps some to see & understand better, talk w/ your doctor over it & show them if the pharmacy will give you the bottles & it will be good to show the doctors that are unaware of this & mine being a excellent & very caring & nuturing doc, said she herself thought it should not be, we checked on all major FDA allowed makers of this medication & they have the same, but again fillers & junk can actually be up to 40% & it's the active ingredient that is allowed a 20% bioavailability to the 8.9673, so
I'm sticking w/ what works as should others. I wish you good luck, I'm typing this w/ my hands & their old & arthritic, so good luck to all, smoke a lil after it helps to, especially the spasms.

I'm in the same boat. Got endocet yesterday and have been in withdrawls since yesterday. I don't care if their the same on paper. This is not imaginary. No sleep, chills, cramps, body aches, cancelled my day.I took my reg dose, why is this happening?

Even worse is the fact that now, unless you find a wonderfully understanding pharmacist and they are willing to actually bend the law...your script is WORTHLESS
Dowhatucan2stop! I also found this to be a stupid statement, considering the fact doctors know how exspensive brand name pain meds can be. 9.99 times out of ten doctors sign the script where it says subsititute permitted meaning the pharmacy can dispense a generic of their choice or yours. Considering you do not want Brand name, we all know that can cost a fortune.

From what I have read from some
of you. Most of you's got it made.
What I mean is that everytime I ask
my Doctor for the Endocet 7/325
she tries to redirect me to an Orthopedic whereas I know that even a regular Doctor can give you
a prescription. I have no problem paying for this GENERIC brand of
Endocet. When I was getting this
medication from my wife Surgeon,
I only had to pay $2.40 regarless of the amount. I have 3 herniated disks and you can believe it's no laughing matter. Any activities that I do in the household I definite need me a tablet or two in the aftermath. Anyway Endocet work fine for me. Try 7.5/325 or 10/325.
The 325 is only aspirin which does
nothing. So ask your Doctor for a
higher MG and less aspirin.

I dont care about the science, I KNOW MY BODY. Speaking from experience, ENDOCET IS WORTHLESS. It does not help my pain at all. Watson oxycodone is the only med that has ever helped my pain. My pharmacy gave me endocet this time and I am in agony. Feels like I took a sugar pill. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. EVERY HUMAN BODY WILL REACT DIFFERENTLY. SOME WILL RESPOND MORE TO ONE OR THE OTHER, BUT FOR ME ENDOCET IS WORTHLESS.

That's a very good point. I have heard that before on another topic. People who judge first are usually the ones who have done it or seen it up close and now look for it everywhere.

I hope your hip heals quick and you are getting some relief! I know that must be extremely painful. My best wishes for you.
