I HAVE BEEN ON OXYCODONE FOR OVER 2 YEARS AND MY DRUG STORE RAN OUT AND GAVE ME ENDOCET? SAID IT WAS THE SAME THING BUT MY BODY TELLS ME THAT IT'S NOT THE SAME. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CHANGE?

My husband is on oxycodone 10/325 and now endocet 10/325 he says he has to take more. He is also on morphine 10 mg three times a day. Would that have an effect on the maintenance drugs?

Even though endocet and Percocet are both manufactured by endo pharmaceuticals they are not identical ,do your homework, different binders and fillers can and do change the bioavailability which affects the plasma concentration , and everyone is different ,loof up these big words o.k.

why is she experiencing more pain after taking Oxycodone 10mg (no Tylenol). versus taking Endocet 10 / 325?
Is the Tylenol making the difference?
Because Oxycodone by itself is making her feel much worse..

dowhatucantostop, it's curious that you post identical messages on different forums.
It's also curious that you actually believe what manufacturers and the government tell you.
Oddly enough, Endocet works better for me than Percocet. And no, it's not in my head, because I was unaware of the substitution (this has happened to me twice in 14 years) until I began to search for the cause of my sudden increase in pain. I returned the unused Percocet to the pharmacy, received Endocet, and my pain level promptly dropped to manageable values.
BTW, I have a license to grow my own marijuana and use it most nights to enable me to sleep. It works even better than Endocet.

The pharmacist has to fill out your prescription how ever the Dr. tells them to. In other words if she says 30 pills (240 mg), 1 a day slow release. That is how they HAVE to fill it. The only way they are allowed by law to fill it, is by how your Dr. writes out the prescription!!! If you want a 90 day supply she has to write a 90 day prescription!! If she puts a strength dosage on it. They have to fill it exactly as she says!! I hope this helps!! I am getting to where I cannot afford my medicines.

@JoJo
You say the pharmacist HAS to fill as to how the doctor specifies, generic permissable or name brand only-
I have found differences in the generics, I told my doctor so he wrote for name brand only but pharmacy told me they only had generic and filled (still do) with generic brand. Isn't this against the law for the pharmacy to do this to me?

I forgot to mention that the medical assistant, upon hearing that I was suffering from persistent itching, told me to immediately stop taking the endocet. She said that I am having an allergic reaction.

I am responding on the sole basis of personal experience and not as any type of medical professional. I have been on oxycodone for almost two years to manage chronic back pain. My dose has been the same and it does the trick to provide me with the relief I need. Today, I went to a different pharmacy than usual due to location and they gave me endocet. I didn't realize it until I got to work. I looked it up and saw that it was a generic of percocet. So, thinking that it would have the same effect as the oxycodone I took it. I am very disappointed. My dose did not even come close to providing me with the relief I need. I had to double my dose to get some relief but still did not get full relief like I have consistently gotten from oxycodone. I also started itching in random places all over my body and the itching keeps jumping around. So, I called my specialist and talked to his medical assistant. When I told her I had been given endocet she had an immediate reaction that they should have given me oxycodone. She seemed upset about it and made it clear that it is not the same as oxycodone, even though both oxycodone and endocet are considered generics of percocet. Again, this is just my personal experience and I make no claim that everyone would have the same experience. To me, I think the medical assistant's reaction was most striking because she was so clear that endocet is the wrong medication for me. I will be picking up a new prescription tomorrow morning and they will be specifying that I need to be given oxycodone. I will, going forward, also ensure that whatever pharmacy I go to has oxycodone in stock and can provide that instead of endocet.

I have had multipal surgeries/ procedures wwhere I was prescribed oxycodone and ms contin. With pure oxycodone it helped alot otherwise watson 922 worked ok and then the 10/325. Whote onlong. But the best that works for me is the endocet 10/9325 the yellow ones.I guess everybody doesn't always react the same to the fillers they use

I have been on Percocet 7.5/325 for over a year due to severe back issues. I recently went to a different pharmacy to fill my monthly script and they carried Endocet, not Percocet and I didn't think anything of it. There is definately a difference!! I have broken out in a rash all over my body. My doctor said it's possibly due to slightly different grade and/or active ingredients. FYI...I work for the state and therefore have state insurance which is ASEA and the cost for my monthly fill of 240 pills is $25.47. HARDLY the $360 the one person said it was. not even close!

Thank You Genie you are telling the true. I have pins and plates in both my legs and nothing works, but they want to try something else all the time. I have a appt: July 26th I"m tired of the pain, but I'm tired of feeling trapped by the feelings I have when I don't take the meds. My name is Mary E.

Dowhatyoucan2's response is slightly incorrect. If you check the PDA, percocet 10/325 only contains 9.8mg of oxycodone!

Hi,

I had the same effect. 1 month my doctor prescribed me percocet in which I received oxycodone. It worked great, but the next month the pharmacy gave me endocet and it didn't work as well as the oxycodone. I ended up taking more so this went by for a couple of months and finally I went to a different pharmacy and they had the oxycodone and I will never except endocet again. I don't care what anyone says generics are different from each other and they all are different from the named brand!

That's a very good point. I have heard that before on another topic. People who judge first are usually the ones who have done it or seen it up close and now look for it everywhere.

I hope your hip heals quick and you are getting some relief! I know that must be extremely painful. My best wishes for you.

You don't have to explain yourself. I broke my hip and my pelvis in Iraq and have a very intelligent pain management Doctor, as well as the common sense to use my Meds for pain relief, not to get high. The problem is, for every 1 person who takes narcotic pain relievers for real injuries in a responsible way, there are 20 junky opiate addicts and the country has begin to look at anyone who has to take opiates regularly under a microscope. The people that have doubts were probably addicts themselves at one point or know somebody with a drug problem. That is not us and we don't have to explain ourselves.

While I am sorry for your loss, this is not an appropriate response to us who are pain sufferers and take pain meds to manage PAIN. Many of us have chronic pain and have been taking these meds for years without incident or increase. There is always a chance to abuse anything. Drugs included. We are not going to pain clinics to get drugs. My doctor would never prescribe that drug EVER. I am very sorry that your son could not get the true help he needed from a good doctor who understood his condition. I agree with you in regard to the pain clincs and regulation that needs to happen in Florida, which is the only state that doesn't have in-state or out-of-state communication of narcotic sales by SSN. It is why there are a lot of pain clincs there and shady doctors. But that's an issue that is actually the underground drug market as most of the sales of drugs from those areas go to the street trade and not to pain sufferers, they go for recreational use. Most pain clinics, good ones, use a variety of methods to treat pain. Most pain sufferers have exact conditions for their pain and are treated by specialists. If you have read through these comments, which I have suspected you haven't and posted out of grief; you would see things like "dental work", "herniated disk", "fibro", "migaines", "cancer".. these are not something you will go to a pain clinic for. You will see a neurologist, a oncologist, a oral surgeon, etc. I think if you read deeper, you will find people who are trying to find a quality of life that is bearable, not drug addicts. If you are interested in finding that, that is. Otherwise, I wish you good health and maybe you can find solace in some work with true drug addicts. There are plently of agencies out there looking for volunteers. NA is a great one if you want to try and reach out to help those who need it.

I really don't understand how people can judge what they haven't experienced. For people on here thinking everyone will overdose on pain meds one day is being shortsighted and very uninformed. "Most" pain managment is done through well informed and caring doctors who understand conditions of their patients and prescribe the right regimen of treatment, including pain medication to afford some of us at least a decent quality of life. I have been a migraine sufferer and have a heart defect. The two things combined do not allow me to take triptans for my migrains. Without pain medication, I would have more than likely committed suicide from pain a long time ago. Not from overdose, but from the sheer blinding madness brought on by pain. It's the walk-a-mile in someone's shoes. Of course there are bad doctors, there are abusers, there are people who will get addicted, but there also people like me and the majority on here who manage their meds, do not get addicted to them and use them as a means to live their life as everyone else can. Pain free - or as much so as possible.

To the OP: I have never been prescribed endocet. I take butal for low degree migraines, hydrocodone 7/325 for moderate and then oxycodone 7/325 combined with phenegran when the hydrocodone doesn't work. I do know from having grand mal seizures and being on a genenic form of a seizure med that I was allergic to, that my neurologist did confirm the 80% generic policy vs the 99.8% brand. When any generic is made, it can be 20%+/- any active ingredient, this includes otc drugs as well, which is why they are cheaper. A branded drug can only be within +/- .02 % tolerance on the active ingredient. My symptoms went away when I was switched back to the name brand seizure med. Fortunately, I have never experienced any kind of problem with the narcotic pain relievers or the Butal. Even from batch to batch or pharmacy / generic maker. And I have been taking them for 20 years and seen shapes and sizes change many times.

Also, to the ones who fear us "topping out" and having to continue to get higher dosage to manage.. I have only been increased by 2.5 mg in 20 years due to careful management by my doctor. And even went through a bypass surgery with the same amount. So, it can be done if you have good physicians and aren't trying to manage pain and not get "high". I think it is in the goal. A lot of people simply get that confused. But it is no excuse for anyone to lash out at the masses of pain sufferers to think we all are addicted, not managing our own pain and meds carefully, do not have good doctors and just finding any old "pain clinic", or getting the meds for other uses such as recreational. You insult and demean every person in pain without thinking of anything but your own selfishness. Just be glad and thankful to whatever god you worship that you don't suffer. I am.

Jojo Why be so hostile and sarcastic with your answer by calling the individual d******. It was just a question. Be nice. In addition are you a pharmacist or Dr. or just who likes to get high on them. Some of us use them as needed for pain!!YLOIZK
