Dulane 20mg Uses For Spinal Injury

My orthopedic doctor has advised my mother to take dulane 20mg twice a day. She felt some drowsiness and dry mouth. Will this medicine help provide pain relief for spine L-3 & L-4? How long should treatment be continued for?
