I am inquiring about double dosing loratab 10 mg' s. I have taken 1 every 6 hours as my Dr. prescripted. I asked him if in times of intolerable pain if I could double the dose, He advised against it. However; I tried this anyway, needless to say really, I CAUTION YOU DO NOT DRIVE UNDER THIS CONDITION!! After about 30 minutes I felt like I was laying on floating cloud suspended in the air. I took the loritabs at 7pm, last thing I remember was getting real drowsy then waking up at about 10:30 the next morning. I told my Dr. about what I'd done. He started with the other harmful effects, such as liver and heart damage and other vital organs. His biggest concern was !!ADDICTION!! Now I only take what I'm prescribed. I will also say that was the best pain free night of what I remember.

Other than the fact that this medication can be habit forming, taking a higher dose than prescribed also creates the risk of overdose, according to FDA warnings.

If you are not getting adequate pain relief from your current dosage, it would actually be better to speak to your doctor about what other options are available.

Are you on any other medications?
