Does Taking Tylenol Pm Change The Effect Methadone Users

Does taking tylenol pm change or lower methadone potency because my sister takes 50mgs of methadone daily but I just found out she has been taking up to 7 tylenol pm at the same time. Since she said her methadone doesn't last like it used to could tylenol pm be the cause?

The Methadone combined with the Diphenhydramine in the Tylenol PM can increase sedation, which is risky, since it can lower heart rate, blood pressure and breath rate.

But, the biggest concern is all the Acetaminophen that she's taking in daily. Each Tylenol PM contains 500mgs of it, so taking 7 of them at a time totally 3,500mgs and the maximum daily dose is only 3,000mgs. Anything over that carries the risk of overdose toxicity, which could lead to liver damage, liver failure and risks being fatal.

She needs to inform her doctor of how much she's been taking.

The FDA classifies Methadone as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

She may have just become tolerant to her current dose of Methadone, which is normal and usually happens with time.
