Doctors Who Prescribe Narcotics In Dayton Ohio
UpdatedDoes anyone know of any doctors in the Dayton, Ohio area that prescribe narcotics for Fibromyalgia? I have just moved to the area and have never had an issue finding a doctor for this, but now they tell you upfront that they dont prescribe narcotics for fibromyalgia. Help? Anybody?

Hello, Sweetdeb! How are you doing? Sorry about the problems that you're having.
What type of doctors have you been consulting and how have you been asking them about prescriptions?
Due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, if you require medications on a long-term basis for pain management, you'll need to see a specialist. General practitioners are now severely limited in what they can prescribe, how much they can prescribe, how long they can prescribe it and why they can prescribe it. For instance, they can prescribe something for someone with cancer and in severe pain, but not for someone with Fibromyalgia.
Additionally, if you're calling doctors and asking up front if they'll prescribe anything or not, most will view that as being drug seeking behavior and will just tell you no.
What you really need to do is set up an appointment with a new doctor and then let your medical records speak for themselves. You can tell them how miserable you are, but you can't outright ask them to prescribe something specific.
Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone?
Does anyone else know of a good doctor in the area?
You need to read the recent FDA regulations. They have changed and what you want is probably impossible. They are coming down hard on doctors
Thank you! No, I never ask for anything up front and hardly do when I get into the office either. I'm not one of those that ask for meds..I actually hate asking and usually try to get them to suggest it. I tried to make two different appointments for just a regular doctor, they asked what the illness was, and I made the mistake of saying fibromyalgia as one of the problems. I do have other issues like diabetes, hypothyroidism, high blood pressure that require maintenance meds, so fibro isnt the only reason i go, but the two I called said that they don't treat fibro or treat depression. I used to go to the same doctor for everything (which I dont always go for the fibro, but as I get older and the climate is much colder where I am now, it has been much more problematic and really need to see someone soon.) Thank you for the advice. It looks like I'm in for a merry go round ride either way. :)
they usally prescribe lyrica and maybe a mild narcotic. i have had fybro since 98 now it is spread from head to toes i do get more pain meds but i have had a 5 level fusion in my neck a 3 level in my back and have a nureo stimulator implant that helped so much with the fybro until it defected now it has to be removed.
Are you familiar with fibro? Its not impossible, just a challenge.
