Doctors Want Me To Stop Temazepam Abruptly After 16 Years Use
UpdatedI have been taking temazepam on and off for 16 years,I was initially prescribed them for mild insomnia and to help me with travel as i have a fear of flying.The dose given to me has always been 10 mg,needless to say i needed temazepam more frequently, as time went on i had them on repeat prescription .I was getting through 20 x10mg every 5 weeks,sometimes taking 2 or three tablets in one night.My then doctor decided he was not happy with my increase and wanted me to cut down, to some degree i managed to do this(not without difficulty and huge anxiety issues) i cut down from 170x10mg to 70 tablets in one year using nytol one as a substitute . I was hoping that given time i would be able to reduce this even further,I was then informed that my doctor had left the surgery and i would no longer be issued any more temezepam or any other alternative and that this was for my own good(more like the good of the surgery law suit issues etc..) within a couple of weeks i had serious anxiety attacks and could not sleep for four days straight,i was an emotional wreck and insisted on a doctors visit as i was feeling so low and didn't want to get out of bed,they sent round a doctor who informed me she thought i was suffering from depression,i told her i was suffering from anxiety and was feeling low due to lack of sleep,nevertheless she prescribed me with anti deppressants and prescribed zopiclone as these are apparently not addictive,I have taken these two nights in a row,yes they have helped me to sleep but the following days i have zero concentration and no cognative functioning,i can only imagine this would get worse with increased usage and think i would rather the lack of sleep. I did not take the anti depressant as i do not think i am depressed but going through withdrawal symptoms. Anyway i am wondering if anyone has got through the diazepam tapering with any success and whether i should print of the recommended temazepam tapering programme and insist the doctors help me come of this awful drug the proper way
