Help, Seeking new Doc in NJ (Middlesex/Monmouth County areas) I have been going to a pain mgmt. doctor who was giving me oxycontin ER 40mg twice a day and 10mg Percocet 4 times a day for breakthrough pain. They have cut my meds in half in the last 2 months, I have always taken meds correctly and never had a dirty UA. My levels were always good. I have bulging and herniated discs and am in a lot of pain. They are cutting everyone down on meds because of over medicating some patient etc.. (and now everyone pays). I want to find new pain doctor who will give me what I was originally taking does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks for the help. please get back to me with suggestions. Thanks Again. want to find new doc before my next appointment

Hi, Bugatti I post on here frequently, noone but carmine tried to help me. I'm in central NJ I posted a few places in the past to help ppl. Have you found a Dr near me anywhere? I really don't feel like explaining my story again I'm sure you have read at least some of my threads? It just seems like ppl never give out any info?

Hi Bettina, I go to university pain mgmt. In Somerset NJ and they also have an office in Monroe NJ. Mind you I'm in EXTREME agony everyday! He just keeps lowering and lowering. I was doing OK, bearable pain with the 15's but just got lowered to the 10's. Which are not helping me at all! I don't want to feel high, I just want to be able to get up and be happy but with this pain as a constant thorn in my side, my agony shows thru to my beautiful 12yr old whom is also affected when I can barely get her off to school or most of the things we used to. I'm hoping some miracle happens and someone steps up to help me? I have to talk to the Dr. again and I pray I don't get looked down upon? I wish he could be me for just one day! Anyway that's where I go. Nice place, Dr seems nice but some reason they try to say my pain isn't real? That I'm just used to being on high doses of meds. I'm in too much pain too even look for new place just worn out from it all.

Bugatti Bluezz,

I don't understand why you would need a referral to get into this dr #1 and I am on four or five of these blogs and I see people say I know a dr here but you need this refferal. That's not right cause I see on here multiple times and multiple blogs seeing the same thing that someone knows someone here blah blah they really help me....well ok that's awesome but it seems like people on here just keep dangling drs in front of people but do not give the info.....it's a private blog for a reason and FYI to everyone they block out your email so don't even type that cause it's useless......I have not found any leads on here and I haven't had the right medications in two yrs now. They even tried me on medication that almost killed me so if you have a dr who you know will help people on here share the love, refferal or not....if you don't or can't share which I think is bulls*** since this blog was made to SHARE...you don't have to give your personal info on here and sometimes you can't but just at least you can give that person hope in their life....we are all miserable and in pain so just think of that before you put out that info, "is this going to help anyone or just make me look like a fool? " Hhmmm

Folks,

I know this isn't what you want to hear but unless you are terminally ill the windbags in Trenton (the DIShonorable governor Chris Christie) War on Opioids has limited the prescribing of controlled substances to a 5 day supply for "acute" pain. If further relief is required a follow up appointment is needed where they can dispense an additional regimen for said opioids. Further pain relief must be addressed by pain management where this treatment is considered a "CHRONIC" pain designation. The problem being most pain management providers in NJ ALSO LIMIT the use of oral narcotic pain meds as well. The days of monthly supplies are history. If your blessed enough to find a LIBERAL pain management provider he MAY prescribe Vicodin or similar strength Rx's but in greatly reduced quantities. THE MAJORITY ARE FOCUSING ON INTERVENTIONAL TECHNIQUE'S. Most in need of narcotics are now FORCED to travel out of state where restrictions MAY NOT be as tightly enforced. Even in surrounding north east states it's a crap shoot and REPEATED prescribing of schedule II meds are the EXCEPTION not the rule. I wish I had better news to report but for those PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY, TRAVELING TRYING TO CONVINCE THESE BARBARIC PRESCRIBERS THAT YOU REQUIRE SOMETHING STRONGER OR THAT MAY HAVE IN THE PAST WORKED BEST, UNLESS THEY ASK, BECAUSE more times than not they will document this as drug seeking behavior. There is the exception that when hospitalized for surgery or traumatic pain conditions medical providers are free to use their medical judgement to prescribe without fear of retribution from oversight regulatory agencies. I hope this information assists you in understanding what WE, THE LEGIT CHRONIC PAIN SUFFERER'S IN THIS STATE ARE UP AGAINST.

Carmine... It's Shelly. I am at my wit's end! I'm in sheer agony! My Dr. lowered me to 4 OXY 10's now on my last visit and wants to do some injection in some joint near my ass. The med don't help not one bit I'm going absolutely insane! I'm so sorry to hear about your waste of time! Similar things happen to me, they let me come in for the consult, having all my paperwork in advance mind you just to tell me they can't help me when I get there? Well why did you tell me to come in then? INSURANCE FRAUD! Just billing my Medicare hundreds of dollars for a 3 minute visit that I wasted hours filling out paperwork to tell me I can't help you. They knew that before I even walked in! Just getting ins. payment. I'm going to call Medicare and report every one them! No more of my free insurance $$$ for wasting my time! NJ has become ridiculous! Governor Christie and his new 5 day supply limit! I bet you he doesn't have chronic agonizing pain! Have you found anywhere? I feel absolutely hopeless! I can't take much more of these PAINFUL INJECTIONS THAT DON'T EVEN WORK!

Concerned

Yeah I helped Shelly with a doctor and I got referred to this doctor in nj that had all my paperwork said he could help so I spent my last 350 to go to him which is two hrs a way he told me I have all the right documentside and the injuries that deserve pain maid but wanted to give me vicoden tens which is a joke for all my injuries so I had to go back to the Urgent Care which doesn't give me close to what I was on n won't raise me from 4 20s a day which is a joke I can't take it any more

Carmine, wow what happened. I thought you and Shelly were helping each other out? I feel so bad for you. These days it's like you can't get any relief with legitimate pain. Can I ask if Urgent care was helpful.

Steve, I am a intractacable chronic pain patient as well. Can you let me know some of your pain issues that keep you on an exemption list if you wouldn't mind. God bless.

Severereproductivepaingirl,

41 doctors and none will see you? That's beyond insane!!!!! I wish I had something to suggest but even those who had pain relief doctors are all being ceremonially reduced and or withdrawn except for a small % of terminal and or limited intractable pain sufferers. Its very unfair to those who suffer relentless agonizing conditions

Shelly,

Hi and yes that is the standard memo and correspondence delivered to my south jersey MD as well.I suffer from an autoimmune disease sickle cell anemia which causes flare ups best described as unbearable. My condition provides an exemption as I'm informed so I continue to recieve the 2 powerful opiates/opiods that I've been prescribed for the past 7 years.Sadly over 90% of cpp are effected by these new restrictive laws. I wish there was something I could say to help bc 2 family members were also effected by this but my doc has given them a very generous allowance and more time to acclimate then most others that I've heard about. You are correct I believe this will only cause more street crime and illicit street dealing to medicate these poor cpp's. All my best to you,
Steven

Shelly

My appointment was Bulls***. I drove 2 hrs to fill out paper work then waited 3 weeks for an appointment n then at the first evaluation of me he said I'm sorry, even though u have all the paper work and deff should be on meds. But he wanted to give me 30 mg er and vicodin 10/325. So he basically just took my 350 dollars, what f*****g bulls***.

Hi carmine! I know you said you had an appt. On the 10th. Just checking in to see how it went? I'm agonizing here! Got dropped to 15's my last visit and was told going to 10's on my next visit. I heard of some letter that went out to all the dr's about ppl on benzo's and opiates so I was under the impression that all of this lowering of our meds was mandatory? So I asked my psychiatrist whom I get my 2mg Xanax from (she is very nice & caring) she told me she received one as well it's called a black box letter she said and it came from the surgeon general. It states that if the Dr. Pain management or other prescribing benzo's. Feels a patient is at risk for overdose to taper them to the least available dose. Which is exactly what my PM Dr. Is doing to me. My psychiatrist said it is most definitely because of my high benzo intake. She said they still have free reign to prescribe what they want but are being closely monitored and PM Drs. Guidelines state oxycodone & oxyconfin should only be for terminally ill, cancer patients and palliative care which is someone with a permanent lifelong illness. Well my back & arthritis have not been cured nor fixed with these bulls*** inj's.! I'm sorry but I refuse to go thru that agony that don't even work for 10's this whole intervention is unjust! They are literally driving good ppl to the streets! Wait and see how the supposed already opiate epidemic spikes to an all time high because of what they are doing! I lowered my Xanax to 1mg voluntarily since I was cracking the stix in half anyways in hopes I will stop being seen as a risk instead of a person who is in 24/7 agony and needs to live life out of my bed! Just thought I would let everyone know the facts got it straight from 2 Drs. I live in central NJ anyone know where I can go? Lmk how you made out carmine. Did you make it thru the snowstorm?

I see I'm not the only one having trouble getting back to a dose comfortable for me. Hello everyone I am a lifelong pain sufferer since I have had scoliosis, degenerative disc disease along with spinal stenosis up and down my spine I have had two major back surgeries along with shoulder surgery. I am looking for a dr not afraid to prescribe based on the patient not what our wonderful government is suggesting. If anyone could help I would be very grateful . I was on 80 mg oxycotin twice a day, 30mg oxycodone, 4 times a day, gabapentin and flexeril also. I was also wondering about any advice about getting xanex how hard it is and what to say. I'm always afraid to say something due to my anxiety please thanks everyone
