Hello, Jaydog! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having.
The issue is that doctors are instructed to view it as drug seeking behavior, when someone asks for a specific medication that is a controlled substance. The one you're looking for is very commonly abused and, according to the FDA, it carries the risk of being habit forming, it could also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.
The best thing to do is to see a new doctor and let your medical records speak for you. Once they see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe accordingly. But asking for a specific medication, such as this will virtually always raise red flags with a doctor.
Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly that might be able to refer you to someone? If so, that might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need.
Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?
