I'm sorry, but there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you and due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist, a general practice physician will not be able to prescribe it for you.

Alprazolam/Xanax is a benzodiazepine that's most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

Do you currently have a PCP that you've been seeing regularly? If so, having them refer you to someone might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor in that area?

What other medications have you tried?

Most doctors will only resort to benzodiazepines, if all other avenues of treatment have been exhausted.

The reason for this is because they tend to be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

I live near Belleville, Illinois and moved from Hawaii. My pcp won't write a recommendation and I've been on xanax for years. I’m running out this Monday. PLEASE REFER ME.
