Dilaudid Injections
UpdatedIs there a dilaudid shot that i can get from my drs office? We have tried all painkillers for the chronic pancreatitis i have. I go to the er about every week. If i could get a shot at the dr's office it would eliminate going to the er. 1 mg of dilaudid iv seems to be the only thing that works. I took 4 mg of dilaudid tablets for a long time. Now i have to go to the er.

Carol,
I have found cases in which people were prescribed an oral version of hydromorphone (dilaudid), so at least there is the possibility of you being able to get a prescription for it. You would need to set up an appointment with your primary care physician and see if they agree that this is the best route for you after reviewing your medical history.
I would like to add that hydromorphone contains an opioid and exposes you to addiction, misuse, and abuse. As such doctors are reluctant to prescribe this medication so be prepared to meet some resistance when you discuss this option.

I hope this information helps.
