Diclofenac, the generic for Voltaren is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory used to treat pain and swelling.

Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, headache and stomach irritation.

I take Diclofenac Sodium DR 75 mg and have received a refill that does not look like the pill I am taking. This new pill is light brown, round, coated with a P above 75. Is this the same medication as the white diclofenic pill I am taking?

Hello. I use Voltaren Gel 1% on and around my joints. I have found it to be very helpful bc it knocks out the discomfort enabling me to go on walks w a smoother stride. I can also get up from a seated position w less searing pain. I do get bilateral knee inj's. and I have a Rollator that helps keep pressure off my back as I walk. This type of walker also helps to keep me from tumbling over, which may be a side effect from another medicine. Voltaren Gel 1% by my estimation, is a terrific product. I'm grateful that my doctor thought to prescribe it for me. Many are the nights when I need to pack myself in w ice and rub Voltaren Gel all over my hips, knees, ankles and entire foot. It knocks that residual ache pain down so I can concentrate on my breathing, which in turn, puts me to sleep. A treasure beyond measure. Many of you seem not to have physicians whom you trust. Using any of these medicines, should be backed w a doctor that is listening to you. Plus starting w a low dose of whatever and working to reach the level of medicine that relieves you of pain is paramount. You really need this partnership. Going off your meds cold turkey is not a good idea. Get assistance to titrate down. I wish us all to find our path that leads us away from pain and it's frustration.

Why is it better to take this medication instead of Advil, which I take only on Friday and Saturday night for dancing (3 pills). Have been dancing for 50 yrs. and only recently have had to take Advil.
