Cymgen Withdrawals- How Long And What To Do??
UpdatedI have been on Cymbalta, then changed to the generic Cymgen (30mg) for 8 years. I decided after this amount of time to stop and asked my psychiatrist on ways to do this. FISRT of all, my psychiatrist said that because i was on such a low dose that there will be NO side effects of stopping the drug. My response was to inform her that on days i have missed taking my meds i have severe head zaps and couldn't manage just stopping (Cold Turkey) if that was the case. She then put me on a course to taper off: X2 weeks 30mg Cymgen & 20mg LilyFluoxetime (prozac)- After two weeks i stopped the Cymgen and carried on taking the lily for another two weeks as requested by my doctor. I had my last Lily on the 18th of July 2016. It is now the 10th of August 2016. The withdrawals are so severe that im at my wits end. I have little to no concentration, dizziness, light headed, My appetite has increased to a stage where i have gained 4KG from constantly craving carbs. Short temper and extremely emotional. Please can anyone assist on supplements that could approve these symptoms. Im determined to not touch any other anti-depressants or anti-anxieties until i can feel some what human again. This experience has also made me extremely angry at healthcare practitioners. The fact i was told Cymgen would have no side effects from stopping, that i was never properly informed on the dangers of stopping and how i would feel. The fact that i have read other forums where peoples doctors have admitted that this drug should be taken off the market!!!! What the hell?? We put our physical and mental health in the hands of individuals that have probably never had to take drugs such as Cymgem never mind understand the withdrawals a person goes through.... If anyone has any advise it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much....

Hello, Jenna! How are you? Has there been any change, yet?
It may take a month, or so, for such withdrawal symptoms to fully go away. The U.S. FDA lists others as possibly including dizziness, chills, rebound depression, rebound anxiety and diarrhea.
Unfortunately, many doctors aren't as familiar with medications as they should be, they do not study them as much as a pharmacist, pharmacy tech, or researcher.
