Narcotics can cause depression, because witht he way they work, they are basically like taking a downer. If it is severe and constant, then the medications/dosages may be too strong for her and she should speak to her doctor.

All are very strong medications, though several are often combined to help bring severe pain under better control and give the person better relief. The problem arises when the side effect of the medications are so severe that they are affecting the person's quality of life as bad or worse than the pain was.

In addition, Narcotics can also lower her blood pressure, so coupled with the blood pressure medications, this could cause a problem, it may be dropping too low.

Do you know if they have been monitoring her blood pressure? If she is new to using the narcotics, her doctor should be checking it every week to every 2 weeks, at a minimum and she should also be checking daily, on her own.
