Maggie,

Both the medicines Indomethacin and Piroxicam are used to reduce pain caused by arthritis or other similar conditions. They are considered 'anti-inflammatory' medicinces.

I know that there can definitely be some nasty side effects if someone is taken off Indomethacin abruptly - the body basically becomes dependent on it once somebody is on a regular regimen of it. I would definitely have a pharmacist verify this since it could possibly be considered abuse if they took away his meds. He could be dizzy, drowsy, and who knows what else.

This doesn't sound like a good situation at all - you can also read this page for detailed information on Indomethacin: http://www.prescriptiondrug-info.com/prescription_drug_info.asp?Drug=Indomethacin&Page=1001021; I would print it out and show people the part near the bottom about 'What You Should Watch For While Taking Indomethacin' since it will tell them.

Best of luck!

Jean
