ihave been taking citalopram. i get severe dry mouth....cannot really get interested in self-pleasuring..but i do not have the severe panic/anxiety episodes i had before..I am very thankful 4 this. My doctor will not give me ativan anymore. i really felt good with this. i am diagnosed PTSD.

I have GAD pretty bad, along with alcoholism. I'm 23. They put me on Klonopin, and then Zoloft, in which I had one of those rare reactions where I went totally out of control and cut my arm. They toom me off immediately, and put my on a very small dose of Lexapro, like half of a pill that comes in the sample package. I had a complete loss of appetite and went from a normal 115 for a 5'2 girl, to almost 99 pounds, in just two weeks, my side effect to lexapro was basically anorexia and I didnt even know. Now I'm on a slightly higher dose of klonopin (doesnt help much) and Citalopram HBR 20 mg, aka, generic for Celexa. All I've noticed is it makes me drowsy, but I am only allowed to take it at night. My appetite has also returned. As of right now, I am having a random rage attack, where I feel extremely angry. I dont know if I should take another one, but the thing is I dont think I have any depression, and this is supposed to only help my GAD, but why perscribed the anti-depressant? I feel a weird slight headache everytime I take one, and I'm starting to feel like I'm wasting my time, and will end up being like 30 and stuck on all these. I'm 23. I'm starting not to buy into any of these meds.

After reading someone else's post about being exhausted and have no energy, this puts me at peace. I could not figure out why I was so tired all the time -- just worn out -- no energy at all. I've been taking citalopram for about 4 months now. I was taking Celexa, but my insurance company would not pay for it. I hate taking medication as it is, but I needed something to help with my slight depression. I want my energy back!

I AM NOT DEPRESSED..JUST HAVE ANIXETY AND WAS PUT ON THIS CRAP. I FEEL LIKE I COULD DIE. DOCTORS AND INSURANCE COMPANIES MAKE ME JUST AS SICK AS THIS CITALOPRAM.

Since I switched from Lexpro to citalopram hbr I am exhaustd. I have no energy. I'm having my Dr. switch me back. I did gain weight with Lexapro, did anyone else?

I suffer from panic and anxiety attacks and have been taking xanax 1 mg three times a day, Also I have a terrible time sleeping so my doctor put me on 150 mg of seroquel at bedtime. Now my doctor has placed me on Citalopram 20mg in the morning saying that I have built up a tolerance to the xanax. Today was the first time i took the Citalopram and I can't even explain how sick and terrible i feel, I can't understand why he changed things up when all seemed fine with me.

I know what you mean about changing meds. I was on cymbalta and now they won't pay for it and I have now been put on Citalopram 20mg. I am just weaning off of cymbalta so I will try to keep you posted on how I am doing, as right now I am scared with the change.

Citalopram 20MG: I have been on Lexapro 10MG and felt wonderful, 1st time in years and was also added Citalopram 20 MG and have felt like crap since I started taking it together. Does anyone else take both? I think I'll try to go back to just the Lexapro - I think it's wonderful for me;

Also I do not have depression, my Lexapro was prescriped to me for anxiety. This drug is for depression. I'm really upset about this

They just replaced my Lexapro 10 milg, to the same drug Citalopram 20 mills. They told me it was the generic to Lexapro. Wrong!! I took this med, and the next day felt like a zombie. Nothing like Lexapro, and I won't take it again. Now my doc has to fight to put me back on my Lexapro. I feel this is rediculous to just change someones meds, saying its a generic, and having these horrible effects.

Citalopram is also an antidepressant, a generic for Celexa.

HBR just designated the type of drug salt.

Some of the most common side effects include: drowsiness, nausea, dry mouth and sweating.
