Chlorpromazine Side Effect (Top voted first)

I only take this medication at night PRN but since commencing it the next day I feel like my head is fizzy and I feel light headed and weird, just want to be laid down all the time, is this normal, been on it around 4 weeks now.

This is an antipsychotic, so it is very odd to have it prescribed PRN and yes, it will cause those types of side effects, along with weight gain and mood swings.

Are you sure this is what you're taking?

I was under substance misuse services and it was them that recommended it? Anyhow have got to the bottom of it, was on a tiny 0.4 dose of buprenorphine for codeine addiction and I stopped that at the same time, they said definitely no side effects, they lied! Borrowed some off a friend and felt better within half an hour! Thanks for the reply :) I think the chlorpromazine does dull my anxiety and I know they give it out on the wards for agitation, just makes me sleepy!

It has sedative action. But you should be getting tolerance soon.
