Chest Pain While Taking Bosulif

I have been taking bosulif for a little over a year now. I first started with 300 mg with very few side effects. About 10 months ago the dose was raised to 400 mg. Worst side effect with that was the diarrhea, but was manageable. 4 months ago, the dose increased to 500 mg. Since this last increase, I have had terrible chest pains. Both with activity and at rest. Am taking a number of medications for the coronary artery spasms that the doctor claims is the cause of the chest pain. The pain never seems to go away entirely, even with the constant dose escalations of heart medication. Has anyone ever heard of this problem while taking bosulif? Not sure what to do. I really don't want to quit taking it ( bosulif) because after trying three other drugs, this one is really working for me. Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, Susie! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in so much pain.

As listed by the FDA, chest pain can be a side effect of Bosulif, it doesn't necessarily mean that anything is wrong, it is just annoying and painful. Thus, it likely isn't coronary artery spasms and you may need something to treat the pain, if you wish to remain on the Bosulif.

Have you consulted a cardiologist? It would be best to do so to be sure that's what's going on.

Other side effects may possibly include low platelet count, diarrhea, rash and fatigue.
