Chantix And My Cdl

I read in a truckers magazine article last month that taking Chantix and driving commercially don't mix and the FMCSA has issued an order to suspend all people from driving while on this medication. It also said that it caused homicidal idealation and suicide in some people. I took the Chantix for about a month and stopped taking it because I am BiPolar and I started having irrational thoughts and couldn't sleep. I was also very irritable.

Such issues are possible with most medications, we are all different, so not everyone will experience the same issues.

But the FDA does warn that you shouldn't drive, or operate heavy machinery, while taking most drugs. The irrational thoughts, as well as thoughts of suicide can also be side effect, in which case the NIH does advise that the person stop taking the medication and consult their doctor.
