I had my aortic valve replaced with a mechanical valve in 2014. Post surgery I was put on bisoporal and losartan (25mg). following really bad side effects with the bisoporal my cardiologist told me to stop immediately. He said i was put on these following surgery as this is normal pracrtice for 3 months following surgery. However I forgot to ask about the Losartan and so have continued with this for another year. My GP wouldnt take me off either as he said he wasnt a cardologist but my blood pressure is normal. I am so desperate now with continuing side effects painful legs, knees and migraine headaches dont see my cardologist for another year for checkup. Have decided to stop Losartain every other day and monitor my blood pressure. also on warfarin and managing that very well. please advise

Why not make an earlier appointment with your cardiologist, rather than waiting a year for your annual check up?

If it is the reason your blood pressure is staying at normal levels, stopping it could put your life in danger by causing dangerous rebound elevations in your heart rate and blood pressure, which could result in a heart attack, or stroke, according to the NIH.

Are you on any other medications? It is not normal to be experiencing so many side effects after being on a medication for so long.
