Cannot Fill My Prescription For Oxycodone 30 In Florida (Top voted first)
Updatedi have tried everywhere in my county that i live in florida, get the same answer from all the walgreens and the pharmacies in my area they are out and dont know when they will have it if ever again. i think this is a shame for a person who has a prescription from a doctor and is in severe pain all waking hours. i think this is also a shame because all it does is gives the drug dealers on the streets a reason to charge $20.00 a pill and laugh at us all the way to their bank. there has got to be some relief for us honest people that are suffering and work hard to have insurance and be up standing citizens. i thank our governor for making this problem worse in florida and feeding right into the drug dealer hands. please can someone help and get the honest people who suffer everyday the relief they need. thank you
I have the same problem . I pray constantly for a change. My doctor has suggested I write to my congressman and anyone who will listen. Growing weary of suffering. Our government knew and failed to prepare for the pain problem comes of all the baby boomers!!! as we age of our bodies are dying , decaying joints don't work and I could go on and on about this. My doctor is a decent man who generally cares. My biggest problem is if they had to live in my pain for one day ,maybe they would understand? their countries all over the world who I'm sure are dealing with the same problems but what is the answer ?if only I were younger, stronger and not sick I would somehow March up and down the street make a noise maybe that's what all pain sufferers need to do is make a noise they sell alcohol but not something that lets me has some sort of quality-of-life. God have mercy on our souls. Please I'll join a group or an advocacy or anyone who wants to fight the people in one house and the loss of going this nation to pay attention to us and get rid of the bad.
To Vervown; I thought that going through my Plan D preffered mail order pharmacy was also my best bet but after they had my prescption from a well reknown and award winning Pain management doctor for over a week they simple said that their commitee decided they could not fill my dose of 240 *0 milligram oxicontin. I habe been with the same doctor for over 10 years and used the same pharmacy done everything by the book but all of a sudden in June 2013 my pharmacy let me know that their distributer had been siezed by DEA and thay can't get any more narcatics until they can re-order. At least they gave all there clients a 5 day supply. I have been everywhere else no one will fill my legal prescription. The preferred mail order was from United Health Care and they just wasted my time after telling me they had no problem filling it all of a sudden with no explanation they siad they just could not fill it and did not even bother talking to my doctor! Does anyone know where I can turn next. What is crazy is this is not on the news I wonder how many deaths blamed on opiate abuse are actually from withdrawal or even suicide since right on the lable it says not to stop taking the medication abruptly. This leterally happened from one day to the next with muy pharmacy getting a call in the morning saying they could no order any more narcorics from the distributor no time given until they could get anymore than what they had in stock. Does anyone have any options? Why has this not been on the news?
You should just forget it ,I know people with Cancer and they cant get meds and the cancer is going to kill them and the state of Fla. Just does not care about the people that voted them in the office they are in.I think it is a DAM SHAME THAT IN 2012 You CANNOT GET THE HELP YOU NEED. AND IS IT NOT FUNNY THAT PEOPLE ARE STILL DYING FROM OVER DOSE STILL GOOD JOB DEA. I WANDER IF ANYBODY THAT WORKS IN THE DEA HAS EVER HAD A SEVERE PAIN AND IF THEY DID WHAT DID THEY TAKE TO EASE THE PAIN ,TYLENOL I THINK NOT.
Optumrx mail order for united health care fills oxycodone 30 mg scripts, no prior authorization needed. I've been filling mine there since march 2013 and get it everytime. Takes about a week for then to process the scripts but they send them. I had some difficulty last month cause my scripts are from FL and I moved to MA so they were being difficult but still filled them
I agree! "This is BS trying to get proper meds, seeing a pain specialist, all the legal channels just to get some Quality of life, @such a young age. Surgeries, shots..blah, blah doesn't help. I'm calling my new Dr. Up & insisting to go on what works & I won't have to jump through hoops (pun intended) to get on Oxycodones, but get some.... relief! I'm not wanting to feel high, just be able 2 get out of bed!
I have been taking Oxycodone and/or Oxycontin for almost 17 years, due to severe bone degenerating disease, and until about two years ago, I was able to continue to work and function almost normally. Laws have changed in Florida, and because no one can get these strong but very helpful pain medications, I am in terror watching my health go downhill so rapidly and I wonder, how much pain can I tolerate, how long before these problems [political/DEA] come to an end, and will I be able to regain the ability to take care of myself again, because I am so limited by pain now-joint damage is not reversible!. I began to us an out of State Pharmacy sponsored by Humana, my health Insurance, called Rightsource RX, but after about the third request to fill by mail they told me they would not fill my prescriptions if I had them mailed to me in Florida, and then blacklisted me. I actually have a number of other presriptions filled, that are all expensive, and decided to stop sending them my other scripts unless they agree to fill all/ or none. So far, I am still here in Florida in terrible crippling pain and Rightsource RX is not getting any of my other expensive prescriptions, but that hasn't solved my problem. I am a senior Lady who has always taken medications as prescribed and never abused narcotics since I need them so much to live, I wouldn't risk loosing the right to have them filled, yet, with no former problems- I still cannot get my narcotic prescriptions filled and the anxiety of trying to get a doctor to write a prescription, then, hoping a pharmacy will even agree to fill a prescription is nearly impossible, and Walgreens is the top of the bad pharmacies that won't help their customers as well. What are the options? Move to another country?
To Getna:
By just forgetting it does not help myself or the other people suffering from cancer and severe pain like myself. You need to realize this is exactly what they want us to do. Action speaks louder then words and needs to be taken not to just it let go. That is what I am looking for help as well as get the prescriptions I need. Thank you !
You need realize, they want you on heroin...we spent 10 trillion dollars to control the world heroin supply do you really think they want you on oxy.
You can blame republican cannidate Pm Bondi for problems getting any narcotic medication, but especially legally getting your doctors and pharmacists to feel safe prescribing and filling them. She is running for US Attorney General and have you caught her adds giving herself credit for not only closing down illegal "pill mills" she forgets to ad that she has made no alternative arrangements for very sick patients with chronic pain long term healthcare issues getting anything while she is making it so hard for the young people to stop abusing??? How so when she seems to have gone after seniors and legal prescribers and pharmacies that you can no longer get the medication you need. I was a former republican until I heard her ads and now I beg, VOTE NO FOR REPLUCAN TEAM AND ESPECIALLY PAM BONDI FOR ATTNY. GENERAL!!! NO NO NO!!!!
This is not how you control addicts - by cutting off distribution - by penalizing 100% of legitimate patients with respectable physicians writing reasonable doses. I don't take oxycodone to feel high, I can't - I am a single parent and need to be able to work! I take 1/2 doses just to be sure I'm alert. The drug dealers will persevere no matter what, it's those of us who follow the letter of the law who suffer. Why should government agencies and insurance companies get to override Doctors' orders?
I drive all over town trying to get 10mgs filled- it is an outrage! Every store tells me they are out and don't know when they'll get more. I repeat this exercise every 29 days, and it usually takes 4 days- I've even been turned down at hospital pharmacies, saying they have to save it for their "regular" customers. I have to ditch out of work so that I can arrive at the pharmacy when the delivery truck has delivered.
They say "only see one doctor" for your meds or the pharmacist will refuse you, but my doctor died last year. Then this year I moved to a new city in FL...I am filled with anxiety constantly as I watch my supply dwindle, knowing I may not get more, the anxiety has led to other health issues.
Please write your lawmakers, and write a letter to the editor at Time Magazine, which has run several damaging articles painting all chronic patients as street opiate users, including the cover story this month (July 2015). Chronic pain sufferers are the witches being burned at the stake of the 21st century.
I can help u find a place to get them filled. Let me know if u still have problems.
Keep in mind that you will trouble filling that RX unless you get yourself on a list at walgreens. If you a decent pharmacy history and JUST ONE DOCOtor that writes your controlled meds, then they will put your name on a Confindetial List for only R.P,.H's at walgreens. These pts like myself get my meds every month like clockwork unless they are simply OUT, when that happens , they tell you come back and they will have it, and they always do...I used to NEVER be able get my 30's Roxy's filled anywhere, CVS WILL NOT DO IT< don't waste your timer. Those mom and pop shop that charge $10 pill... REPORT THEM THAT PRICE GOGING your however you spell and its iilegal, they will shut them, you must report them though
Jim, thank you for the Methadone advice, but I had always avoided it when any of my previous scripts were written over the (17 to 20 years of having strong narcotic pain medication prescribed for severe bone & joint damage). In the beginning I just felt uncomfortable with the name and associated it with drug abuse, as a medication to "come down off of" when doctors were trying to help addictive behavior v. dependent behavior (when one must depend on a medication to relieve pain distress over a long term dependency). However, as Oxycontin/ and instant Oxycodone became harder and harder to fill, Methadone was suggested again, occasionally, and I began to read about it before even considering the alternative to Oxycodone which works like magic, and almost allows me to feel like I can move without such crippling pain. Jim, I read and read and frankly, that drug scares me so badly, that I actually resent any doctor who would suggest it in place of the alternatives, as I hate the DEA & government controls that would allow it and frown on Oxycodone. I believe it is one of the most dangerous medications on the market and really I cannot understand why as a narcotic, or narcotic substitute anyone in the medical field, or DEA would give preference to this drug. I encourage you to read about the dangerous "half life" this drug has, which means how long it lingers in your body, and accumulates. I understand that to mean that I would have the pain relief wear off long before the accumulative effect of this drug leaves my body. I think that means, for example, say I am in this really severe pain and the Methadone wears off, and someone gives me a strong Oxycontin, which, in this kind of pain, I couldn't refuse, that the increased danger of Od'ing because combined dosages could mean too much- is a very real toxic danger to individuals.
I use this simple explanation as my lay way of explaining my fear of that drug, I don't accept Oxycodone when offered and take my meds as directed, when and if, I can even get them anymore. I am resentful of the gov control, angered that my drug behavior and ethical beliefs have so changed in the past three years of this severe over control of legally prescribed medications, that now even local pharmacies explain they cannot get enough in their orders to even fill their regular customers demands. I can now barely move or take care of myself, and all, I blame on the lack of enough pain medication to allow me to keep moving and stay active. I have become anxious every time get a new prescription, wondering if I can even get the medication prescribed. I am now taking approx. 1/3rd the amount I used to take for at least `15 years before this problem presented itself and seems to have stayed around so long, i.e. obtaining narcotic meds for severe pain control, in Florida, and I believe spreading slowly to other states. Are there any states where this problem stayed normal and wasn't blown up into life-threatening stoppage of getting the meds anymore, oh-and without any care or prevision to make sure patients taking the medication regularly would be watched carefully as they were suddenly denied further prescriptions and their treatment came to a sudden and abrupt halt. Are there any legal channels to sue the gov. or Pam Bondi (Repulican Attny. General sadly reelected- ) for the physical and mental damage to the regular population that used to be able to get pain management legally, and then suddenly suffered from the sudden stoppage of these medications and their availability? Is there an attorney in the "house" who might offer an opinion or show a reason and a way to begin legal action for damages to these individuals like myself who can prove physical damage due to being denied ongoing pain management?
Dilaudid is a very powerful pain killer and I seriously doubt you will find any south Florida pharmacist to fill that for you. MAYBE a hospital has a pharmacy with that drug. I understand about not finding pain killers here in south Florida. Once I visited 14 pharmacies until I finally found a mom and pop who would fill it. Only after a 1/2 hour conversation with my doctor's office, a thorough investigation of my RX history and a serious talk with me. I tell you everyone here is absolutely paranoid. I have very severe pain problems so I completely feel for everyone in this thread. The JUNKIES have made it impossible for those of us who legitimately need opiates.
Blame govenor of Florida by the way u should search the case of a guilty plea from the dear govenor. A guilty plea to a judge so either gov. Paid fine instead of going to prison for overcharging Medicare and he picked guilt plea it's all on video.
Just google , governor pays 1.7 billion dollars fine and avoided prison.
Hope people go to search or u can also search u-tube site.
Enjoy and pass it along to everyone.
I'm 62 pipe welder since 79 worked hard and still work full time . I've had 3 back ops , shoulder and knee ops , need total knee replacement more shoulder ops both thumbs ! Have arthritis really bad every joint in my body ! Been taking pain Meds since 11/88 , recently UHC ins refused pay for my 40mg OxyContin ( 40 OC Er and 15 oxycodone X 3 ) a day Dr //// put me on 30 mg Opana ER and same 15's as before , Now United Health Care demanding Pre Authorization first for the number of pills , then the dosage 30 mg , then they say Dr has to put in writing that that is moriphine equivalent ??? ! I've been trying to get this filled for 3 days and UHC says they can't help till Monday ! Total BS , I'm in pain they don't care , but they happily take almost $500 a month from my check ! They also refuse to pay for 1 of my blood pressure Meds ! I just want to be able to work ! I could've gotten on disability years ago , I don't want that I want to work ! All the people in this country who draw government money and don't really have true medical issues you would think the government , DEA , Insurance , would try to help folks that want to work get what we need to do so !
Walgreen will never have oxycodone again they got caught up in a sting op by dea some stores in the south were dispensing illegaly
If you really want pain relief without trying to get the medicines that people are after on the street, ask your doctor for methadone. There are a lot of mis-leading information on methadone, like it rots your teeth is the biggest, that's methamphetamine, the drug made illegally and smoked, its the chemicals in it that cause "methmouth" and methadone doesn't cause a euphoric high either, that's why nobody on the street wants it. Its cheap and remains in your system a long time. It's used to help H addicts kick the habit at clinics, but for that they get very high doses which stops the addict from the sickness kicking the habit of H causes. If it's for pain management the doses are from 5mg to 40mg 2 or 3 times a day. The only downfall is morning after metabolism the tablet when taken takes a little while longer than other medicines like vicoden or hydrocodone/oxycodone, but if you wanna go from pain level 10 to 1 or zero, trust me, methadone as little as 10mg works amazing!
I am one of many people with well documented severe joint and muscle pain who had been taking Oxycodone and Oxycontin in strong doses for over 15 years until last few years with the recent crackdown in Florida, "against pill mills" which have made getting a legitimate pain Management doctor or all of our pharmacies, almost impossible to get any kind of narcotic medication filled. AFTER I HEARD PAM BONDI BRAGGING IN HER AD (RUNNING FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL ON THE REPULICAN TICKET, BRAGGING THAT SHE IS THE REASON FLORIDA NO LONGER HAS PILL MILLS AND THANKS TO HER EFFORTS, SHE CLAIMS, THERE IS NO OXYCODONE OR OCYCONTIN BEING PRESCRIBED OR FILLED IN THIS STATE. I urge everyone to vote against Pam Bondi-NO!!! (if you ever want to be able to have your doctors take care of your chronic and severe pain issues without all these new and ridiculous restrictions that make it almost,if not impossible to get these personal and important life saving prescriptions filled. This candidate should be locked up.
Yea Leslie, she's a real pain in our Arses, for those of us that "Really Need it", vsIllegal Drug addicts, stealing our opportunities to get our"Legal"meds. I certainly Won't be Voting for Bondi,&will vote 4 anyone that can get us back on track,Inc making Medical MJ legal,so I can get off these pills.Vote Yes on Amendment 2 in early November 2014.get out your voting ID &pass on the word!
