Can T Find Hydrocodone In Orlando Fl 2014
UpdatedHave a legitimate prescription for Hydrocodone 5/325 but have been all over Orlando and no pharmacy has them in stock. Have tried them all - Walgreens, CVS, Target, WalMart, etc. Can anyone help? If you know any pharmacy where you've had some success, please be willing to share. I am out tomorrow and am growing anxious and afraid. I don't know what else I can do.
I was on this med for a while. I went though a period of cant find it also back a couple years ago. Its more than likely a shortage of the medication. Has any of the pharmacy's told you when they will have it? I would call your Dr and let them know what is going on and that you will be out of it. Why they have shortages sometimes...... is just a lack of a certain ingredient. So ask the pharmacy first....... then call your Dr. they may have to put you on something else. Good luck.
Each year the DEA gives manufacturing companies an alloted amount of active ingredients for Schedule II meds, that is their quota for the year. Once they have used that, they have to wait until the next year to manufacturer any more of that particular med. It is not unusual at this time of year to have problems trying to find Schedule II meds.
Take your prescription to a hospital. They have plenty of hydrocodone. Take it to the nearest hospital from your house. Good luck God bless Rocket 666
BL you are right. I had forgot about that. I also take a Fentynal Patch. There is on brand in particular that worked better for me. All of a sudden the pharmacy's could not get that brand in.I mean none of them. I actually called the company that makes them. I was told what you just said. They do limit the amount they can manufacture. It was April before the company could ship them out to the pharmacy's and the bad part...... they knew people preferred that brand over the other......for the relief and the glue on the back did not break up on your skin. Rocket may have a good idea in taking it to a Hospital Pharmacy to have it filled. They may not be as regulated since they fill so many meds for people being discharged.
I was told as Oct 6 2014 nobody can get Hydrocode 5/325 you will not find it was all dispose .
I have been on Hydrocodone , Xanax, soma for 12 years and fentanyl
So with no luck I went cold turkey and got off of everything
I had to go two weeks with chills hallucinations and a horrible metal taste in my mouth and smell I guess I was getting rid of all the drugs in me.
Carmella, the person that told you it was all destroyed as of Oct 6 lied to you.
Thanks so much for all of your replies. I still haven't been able to get my script filled. But I appreciate you all. Please continue to keep me posted on any new info you may have. I have realized that the pharmacies probly won't have any until next year. Don't know what I'm going to do. My doc doesn't seem concerned as I am.
why is everyone having such a hard time finding hydrocodone/apap? I have been off and on it for years and my parmacy/pharmacies here in minnesota never seem to have a shortage. I do not believe the drug companies are having trouble getting this drug out to the pharmacies.....I believe the pharmacies just don't want to give it out as they use to. this is such a shame because people really need their meds. I am hearing about this happening with all kinds of medications (narcotics) and, REALLY, they can't all be running short! Florida seems to be one of the worst places to get meds filled! I would be contacting the DEA, FDA, Drug companies, congressmen, and ANYONE who will listen. This situation is not fair to anyone regardless of addicts getting their hands on it! This should have absolutely nothing to do with the rest of us who need our meds for legit reasons! Something has to be done and if we don't try by contacting all these places and maybe even doing more than calling them, this problem will not be fixed! For goodness sake, we have legit prescriptions from our doctors who HAVE a license to prescribe and STILL we are unable to get what we need! Good OLE USA! What is this place coming to?????? Its enough to drive a sane person MAD!!!!!!!
PS, How can these companies be alloted only so much active ingredient when the request for these meds have gone up? This all makes no sense at all. Supply and demand......although, we DO have the supply but the companies are not allowed to use it! I have been on other schedule II narcs before and never had a problem getting my meds when I needed them. Someone is slinging the bs somewhere. If they are only allowed so much a year, then why is this SUDDENLY becoming a problem? I have been injured for over 13 years and to date, cross my fingers, have never had a problem getting my meds. Others a playing doctor and not even allowing our own docs to treat us as they did before. Its a shame and very sickening! I would like to see these people on narcotics for years and then have to suddenly stop because they cannot be acquired! Bet their tune would change! Doing this to people is nothing short of evil!
You can usually not fill at a hospital pharmacy unless the prescription was written from a doctor that works out of the hospital! This is a very bad time to have to be a patient in pain management! Over Thanksgiving I was forced to go for 9 days without my 100 mic fentanyl patch! This is costing a lot of suffering at the very least! I can not tell you how sorry I am that you too are in this mess and no one seems to care too much!~
I'm having the same issue, the pharmacists I've spoken to said that they keep ordering it but the dea just doesn't send it. I've driven all around orlando, apopka, Oviedo and Sanford in search and finally had luck at the Walmart pharmacy on OBT and wakulla way (1 block from oak ridge) but they may be out by now. Other than that I know that the Walgreen's on 50 and bumby has it but won't fill it unless you meet certain criteria and it's a minimum of 48 hours and no guarantee that you will get your script filled. Also try pharmacies near major hospitals like ormc. Really it's a crap shoot and a lesson in patience trying to find meds. This legislation/reclassification of pain medications is hurting so many people that legitimately need pain relief. You don't need to be a brain surgeon to look at my xrays/MRIs and see that im obviously in pain or to see that someone with a terminally I'll patient deserves to go without agony (which happened to my bffs mom who had tumors mastastized all over her body and a month to live but couldn't get her pain script filled). Also, a pharmacist told me that Tylenol 4 and tramadol are also highly controlled but more readily available. Hope this helps and sorry for the rant.
Raven, Pharmacists don't order meds from the DEA, they are ordered from the manufacturer.
I've been taking hydrocodone 10/325 for months 10/650 before that but the last two time I've gone to get it filled I got the run around. the doctor gave me a script for Oxycodone and they filled it for 3 times the price, 124.00 for 150. I only pay 33.00 for the same amount of Hydrocodone with my insurance, they suck and now I cant change back until next month. The oxy is garbage and I'm stuck ...so thank you DEA. The only people they can stop taking pain killers are people that cant outrun them due to the wheelchairs and etc...

I'm sorry, I should have been clearer in my statement. Yes the pharmacy orders from the drug manufacturers, but now the dea controls/limits which pharmacies get the medications and how much they are allotted.
Raven, the DEA controls how much of the active medication is alloted to a manufacturer for a year, nothing else. It amazes me that people believe their pharmacist is lying if they say they don't have the meds, but if they blame it on the DEA then they are believed.
It is very true...... about the limiting of certain meds. The pharmaceutical company's that make it....... are only allowed to produce certain amounts each year. When I was on this med....there was a national shortage. It was actually the first time they limited it. I had a horrible time trying to find it. Then....... they found out if they went to different places that sold to them..... they could indeed get it......but it was much higher... that is the reason they never ordered from that company to begin with. I take a Fentyal patch. There is one out there that works so much better than any other i have ever tried. Its Sandoz. that is the company name. I am allergic to the glue just about all the of patches are made of from other company's. But this one brand did not affect my skin like the others did. When I HAD to take another brand i called Sandoz about this wanting really to know if the pharmacy was to cheap to buy it from them. They told me no. They had to stop production of the med because they had already made to much according to the DEA. It was April before they could make any more. And when they did...... they knew there brand was best and they put a nice price tag on it. When my pharmacy could get it they called me and told me they ordered it and it come in. However they would not make on penny on the med but would get it for me monthly as long as they did not lose money. About 6 months later they called me to let me know after my insurance paid...... they were in the hole over $100 on the medication and would not longer be carrying that brand. Now I am someone that if I put another brand on my skin breaks down and when I peel that patch off my skin comes off with it. Fentynal is made to leave on 3 days. I left mine on only 2 days at a time because I was supposed to change it then. I have found another patch I can wear that is not to bad about taking my skin off....... however it does not work as well. Now I did take the script to the hospital. As long as the Dr is considered on staff they will fill it. Even my family Dr is considered on staff 50 miles away. Even though he does not admit people to the hospital. So don't think they are not on staff at a hospital you need to check to make sure. My pain management Dr was writing for that particular brand until they would not get it in because of price. There is more that goes into the shortage than people think. Allot more. I have been though it with they Hydrocodone and the Fentynal Patch both. Some the shortage starts in Oct- Dec. Others its Dec- April. Good luck on finding it. Your Dr will write for something different if they can not get the meds they write for. The bad part...its not usually as good or controls you pain like its supposed to do.
Thank you for replying. It's a nightmare just to live without severe pain and to be able to function every day. Since the date I posted this, I've been getting my scripts through my insurance company's mail order pharmacy. It's three times more expensive and the horrible me customer service give me anxiety but at least I am able to get the meds I need. The sad thing about all of this is that there isn't any solution or relief. No one is interested in our horror stories or willing to do something to change things. Not unless and until a politician is stricken with an illness that causes them severe, ongoing pain and they have the difficulties getting their scripts filled like we have.
While this is true, BL, wouldn't you think the allotment would go up as the amounts being prescribed are up? GEEZ, just makes sense to me, right? Lol. Not yelling at you....it's the dang DEA, etc sticking their nose where it doesn't belong! For Gods sake, it's not like pharmacies are buying the stuff to sell it on the streets! Hydrocodone going to a schedule II and TRAMADOL being scheduled at all, have created more problems with true chronic pain patients and less positive action on "the war on drugs!"
Do you know of any mail order pharmacies that will take your script without insurance?

I don't know if you all have seen the recent fallout from this shortage on the news here locally in Orlando and surrounding areas but patient complaints have finally reached the govt level! State Atty and FDA have commented on it claiming their mission is not to hurt or prohibit legit patients from getting their scripts... no one's buying that crap. People are demanding change and fast! So if you haven't already, please join the voices of patients complaining to our govt officials about this problem. The change to Sched II is being blamed, problem is how does it get resolved? In the meantime patients are suffering and being treated like addicts.
Jjanice, tylenol with codeine is a Schedule III. It can be called in and there can be refills. But, Codeine is a narcotic and is habit forming. Codeine Sulfate that is not combined with another med is a Schedule II.
I hope every one is telling their Drs of the problem they are having getting their medication filled. I do believe that is it allot of addicts that are the reason for the shortage. Meaning this. Fake prescriptions. Since this medication can still be called in from the Drs office...... if you know exactly what your doing they can call it in for a patient and get there drugs that way. They can do this using a different name for the Dr and different patient names allot several times a day. I personally knew a girl whose mother is actually a RN whom worked for a well known home health agency. She would call in meds for some of her patients and pick them up for them when she would go in to see them on her monthly rounds aka checking up on the NA's that normally sit with the patients. Her own daughter told me what her mother was doing. When the patient did not have a long time to live she would start calling in pain medication and this med was the one she called in allot. A large supply at a smaller dosage at first then heavier dosages. She would always pay for the pain meds separate. She did this for about 4 years before she was caught. She used to mail order these also. It was a actual mail order pharmacy that caught on to her. She was the supervisor of the place she worked at. The highest one they had. So the pharmacy had to try to go over her head without her catching on. They just so happen to call on a day she was off on vacation and got an employee to tell them how to get a hold of the person in her district. She was fired....but they did not have quite enough evidence to take her to court...... her place of employment that is. I think another reason was because they would have gotten into major trouble also if it got out. And yes there are dirty nurses out there whom get the meds to sell or take or give to someone that is addicted. In this ladies case...... it was the fact her husband was addicted to them. This is a good pain medication. And the sad part is..... when there is a shortage..... the people whom need it can not get it..... and then the Drs have to put you on something else.....that more than likely is more addictive ....... and more expensive. It makes things worse.
Try tylenol with codeine. It is not yet federally controlled and probably in stock
I am very sorry to hear that you too are among those that are unable to get your prescriptions filled for your much needed medication! This has been going on now for well over a year and it is not going to change unless we .... do something that forces change! I am sorry that I do not know what it will take to get change but I recommend putting our heads together ASAP or we will continue to go through the same thing month after month~ Why is it that no one seems to care what this is doing to patients that rely on these medications for debilitating pain? In my opinion, this was brought on by the behavior of addicts but addicts have options that we do no because they do not suffer from pain!
The DEA is giving my pharmacist a hard time because they have hit their quota. I can't find hydracodone 10-325 anywhere! Yes it comes from the manufacturer but the DEA has complete control and unfortunately when one or 2 pharmacies are not allowed to get anymore patients turn to other ones and they very quickly run out. At least that is what I am experiencing. I can't get it for at least a week and I am completely out. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE as I go to my Dr. Every month and take my meds very responsibly yet now I am left high and dry due to new legislation!!
Done!!!
Schedule II rxs can be faxed if the drs office and the pharmacy both have approved software.Schedule II meds can't be called in or refilled.
I feel bad for everyone needing the medication and not being able to fill it. I know how it is to be out of your pain medication when you need it. I am sure your like me...... chronic pain simply hurts. And when you run out or can not get it filled its completely horrible. I was on Hydrocodone for several years with my pain management Dr. Then was switched to Oxycodone. The Hydrocodone actually helped me more than what I am on now. I can not remember why I was switched to this. I do know I have ran out before I could get back in to see the Dr. With my script they can not fax it in or call it in. You have to have a script in your hand. And they do take your ID and make a copy of it. Anyone can get it filled for you......but they have to present their ID. The reason I ran out was because his nurse scheduled me and brought me in 4 days after my script ran out. I seen the date when I got home tried to have them make it sooner and she refused!! So now I make sure I get in at-least 3 days before I run out. I know what it feels like to run out and the pain seems like it intensifies during that time. Or I thought so.
