Can I Go Back To Suboxone After Three Doses Of Methadone?

I have been taking 32 mg suboxone/subutex for over a year. I switched to Methadone four days ago. I had my fourth dose of methadone today...50 mg. I feel like I’m in at least partial withdrawal, even though it’s only been 12 hours. There’s not much methadone built up in my system, so would it be safe to take subs now? I feel lousy, but I’m terrified of precipitated withdrawals. I’m guessing that wouldn’t happen, because the methadone hasn’t had a chance to build up in my system. Any advice would be so appreciated! I’m taking my recovery seriously, and I don’t want to relapse, which is tempting right now. Thank you so much in advance for any advice you might have.

That's an awful high dose of Suboxone! Were you having issues with Suboxone and switched to Methadone? Suboxone for myself and many, many others was truly a life saving medication. Hopefully, you can switch back to Suboxone with no issues.

Hi, I was also on 4 tablets á 8mg/2mg Suboxone/Naloxone and had relapsed twice in the beginning of my therapy with methadone. I would advise you to wait 24h at least because you could get in withdrawal, but if that means that you’ll end up using methadone again, rather take Suboxone and go trough a bit of withdrawal (take a day off) and you’ll be back on track. Do NOT allow methadone to do that to you. Suboxone will become your drug of choice when you’re long enough on it, partially because you can’t take anything else-and quality of life is greatly improved because you don’t find current “friends” good, you’ll see the difference after a year for sure.
Please, don’t go back on methadone-it’s legal drug for, as everyone around us look at us, “junkies”. And I know you’re not one just by reading your post. Let alone your maximum dose for now...

You should always be in full withdrawals, before you start, or go back to taking Suboxone, to avoid dangerous precipitated withdrawals.

The FDA warns that is carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as dizziness, headache, dry mouth, constipation, and nausea.

32mgs if the highest recommended daily dosage.

How are you doing, so far? Are you on any other medications?
