Can I Give My Daughter Ibuprofen With Sulfamethoxazole

My 7 year old is taking sulfameth-trimeth suspension (10 ml 2xday) for a skin infection. She hit her head and I would like to give her ibuprofen for the headache, but I'm worried about interactions and her tiny liver.

Hello, Rchael! How is your daughter doing?

While in theory it is safe, it would be best to check with her doctor first, due to her age. It's also a very good idea to do so, if she hit her head hard enough to cause a headache. With children, it's always best to be careful and play it safe.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
