Because each type of dog reacts to medications differently, just as humans do, I think it would ultimately be best to contact your local veterinary office regarding this inquiry.
From what I've read myself, I honestly wouldn't recommend it for a dog. If a dog were to ingest a human dose of this medication it could possibly be fatal. Diclofenac can also cause more damage in dogs than in humans with regards to the severity of side effects.
I know it must hurt to see your dog in pain, but it sounds like it's definitely worth making sure he gets the right kind of treatment, just to be safe.
