I started taking bystolic 2.5 mg last friday. I only took it for two days. I dd not take today because of the nerve wrecking side effect. I experience shorthess of breath, dizziness and upset stomach. My bp is always normal but this med is for my on and off palpitation. Since its sunday, doctors office is closed so i called the pharmacy. The pharmacist told.me that I can stop.since its onpy 2 days that i took it but make sure to call the doc tomorrow. Now im experiencing discomfort in my chest, burning and sour kind of feeling.. Hard to describe.. Is this normal? Is thereanything i can do to or med i can take to ease this feeling?

Hello, Pinay44! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you experienced.

Those can be normal side effects of this medication, along with headache, dizziness, increased urination and hypotension. Usually, they will wear off after about a month, once your body gets used to the medication. The sourness might be due to stomach acid, most of these medications can cause excess stomach acid.

What you really need to do is work with your doctor to find a medication that works for you, without causing you such horrible side effects. It took me over a year, after having congestive heart failure, to finally find a regimen that works, without making me very ill.

Another option that's in the same class of medications is Propranolol, it does risk causing the same side effects, but many people do better with it.

Is there anything else I can help with?
