Butrans Patch With Suboxone For Pain, Ran Out Of Suboxone Will I Withdraw?

I went to a Pain a Management Specialist for the fist time. I had been seeing a family doctor that was prescribing suboxone for pain. I have Interstitial cystitis, fibromyalgia, chronic migraine, episodic cluster headaches, just to name a few. I have been desperate for months in pain. Trying every nonnarcotic medicine possible, the suboxone, even at 3 8mg-2mg wasn't touching my pain. My doctor told me I needed to get to a pains specialist, he, I believe just wanted the $250.00 cash for prescribing suboxone! In my desperation I had been taking 4 a day, I know the ceiling is 32mgs. The pain doc put me on Butrans 10mcg/hr patch and told me I could take my suboxone with it if needed. I have needed the suboxone 2 or 3 a day. I forgot during my visit with my pain specialist, to,tell him that I would be needing a refill on the suboxone or subutex, whatever he thought would work better. Now I ran out of suboxone, and I don't see the doctor again for a week. Shouldn't the nurse ok at least enough until I see him again . Will I go into withdrawals, due to the small amount going into my system?

Hi,
I've been on an off Butrans for years. But why the heck would they allow you to take the lower dose of suboxon, that's for specifically getting off any narcotics. Subutex is extremely dangerous as it has naltrexon in it which with cause instant withdrawal it's for people who are overdosing!!!!!! Don't know who the heck your seeing, but start doing your homework. Pain clinic doctors seem and some are less knowledgeable then the patients for sure. I been going through this for almost 15yrs. Know what you need when you go in for your appointment. Look up all the words from your M.R.I. and know every pain medication and what can be used with it to saftly help with your pain. Some of these doctors get major kick backs for prescribeing certain "new medications. Stick to what you know. Have your doctor change your medication. DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK, IT IS OUR RIGHT, TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE SCARED TO GET ON THE DOCTORS BAD SIDE! If you get on the doctors bad side for participating in your own well being then something is wrong.
Hope this helped and not all of these doctors that specializes in pain medicine are bad doctors.
I've been told suboxone has a half life which delays symptoms of withdrawal 3 or so days..the withdrawal for me when I ran out and the pharmacy was out of it so I had to wait for their order to come in, was brutal..nearly hospitalized..
I'm off of suboxone entirely because after over a year it didn't put a dent in my pain levels..
The side effects I had using sub never subsided, sweating, anxiety, depression, feet ankles and hands swollen every morning..an almost narcolepsy reaction daily, extreme thirst and constant hunger were bothersome..the backache it caused had me seeing my doc 3-5 times a week at $250.00 per visit for trigger point injections..I'm so much better now that I'm off of it and back on narcotics again..at least now I have a handle on my pain levels and I'm no longer in bed or on the couch like I was during my suboxzone days..watch out for those horrible sub oxone withdrawls, they're worse than coming off methadone..
Hello, Vicki! How are you? Did you experience any withdrawals?
It is possible for them to happen any time you lower a medication, or stop taking one.
But as to the nurse authorizing it, no she can't. This can only be prescribed if you're actually seen for a visit.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
