My name is Bob. I have a Medtronics pain pump the FDA and my personal Dr. Finally figured out over a 100? causes over dose! My medication is Hydromorphone and after a broken serpentine belt and no air conditioning while picking up hay! After pulling over a policeman pulled up behind me and costed me 3 felony charges that I'm currently fighting in Todd county ,Ky court!this has happened 3 times the first time it put me into a coma and so they pawned it off on a medication change stating that I was probably allergic to the morphine that was in the time when they first put it in. The second time I drove right by my house and basically crashed my car and they blamed that on the pump being put in improperly after my revision everything was okay! after the last surgery it happened again and we finally figured out that every time that this is happened and has been over 100 degrees it pans the medication and causes over dosage! thousands of dollars later my primary care physician finally figured it out. my med samples came back all at good levels for my situation and they still doesn't want to drop the charges even though I have no control over my pump and is programmed by my doctor! they took my PT am away from me apparently it malfunctions and is on a recall list so they don't like to let you have those anymore so they recommend oral medications to take the blame off their selves and give themselves a cop out!please don't get me wrong after breaking my back I love my pain pump it allows me to walk and do things that I could never do without it but I do want to know the side effects and what it can do and I certainly don't want to cause harm to my two lovely daughters.
So since then I have had the pump lowered and I'm doing a lot better but I have not experience extreme heat sense. The other things consist of very very low testosterone levels severe anxiety attacksand also severe memory loss. Even though I've got all these problems my pain has been a godsend they really need to do more research to figure out how to solve these problems because the pain pump was actually invented for cancer patients who didn't have a very long life span expectancy. So before you get the pain pump really take all this stuff into consideration consult a doctor who is very smart. My philosophy has always been even if a doctor barely passes Medical School they still call him a doctor. My doctor who I don't mind mentioning her name has a double doctorate and then is also a Harvard grad from medical school she is very smart and very burst and if she doesn't understand or know about a situation she actually takes time to read charts and figure out solutions and that's what we all need having these problems is somebody who actually gives a crap. To me it seems to me PM doctors are more concorned with billing then listening to side effects or write you off as a hypochondriac! they have found an amazing product it needs to be refined and researched because at this point I feel more like a guinea pig in a patient and no matter what is wrong with you or what your condition is a broken back herniated disc and this is a last resort it seems to medoctors should take more time and have more classes to research these issues thank you for listening! If anybody has any more questions please don't hesitate to reply and if you're having any of the same problems I would really like to know if so please respond! and more appropriately stay out of the heat don't go out when it's over a hundred degrees with a pain pump organ in the sauna a tanning bed or being a hot truck with no air conditioner because you will be arrested and I hate to say this but rightfully so!
Hello, Jake! How are you? I'm sorry about what happened.
What medication is in your pump?
Sometimes heat causes some of them to move through your blood stream faster than usual. Or you may also be getting dehydrated, which could make the medication hit you harder than usual, if it's a narcotic.
The FDA lists narcotics as having the potential to be habit forming and possibly causing side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
