ow can i get off clodine i take 0.1 mg twice a day and 80 mg lx indral . it make my blood pre. spike all the time like 200/100 the doctor said quit cold turkey . i tried it spike terrible then what can i do

my blood pressure spike all the time. sometime it goes to 200/105 i ve tried every thing i think it the clondine that make it spike . i go to family dr. she knows how it spikes . ive tried all kinds of b/p med. they just make me sick . if i could get off the clondine i think it would help. The heart dr said just quite it a small dose. then my b/p relly spiked . so iam at my wits end. should i wean off beta blocker first then clondine . then start back on beta blocker . i sure need some help

Yes, if you try to stop both abruptly, at the same time, rather than tapering, it can cause a dangerous spike in both blood pressure and heart rate. According to the FDA, that could put you at risk of heart attack or stroke.

What type of doctor are you seeing?

How soon after stopping them are you seeing the spike?
