Bactrim Ds 800 160 Can I Give This To My Horse For An Infection

Hi I rescued a horse and it has a puncture wound in her breast area looks like maybe for a t post can I give her Bactrim DS 800-160 tab and if so how many should I crush in her food?? Thanks!!

Sorry to hear about your horses condition.

From what little bit I'm finding, some people suggest giving one 800/160 mg. Bactrim tablet per 100 lbs of horse (basing their dosage on the weight of the horse). Although I'd imagine this number could vary greatly depending on the severity of the condition.

I also realize you posted this almost a week ago, but it sounds like your best bet would probably be to consult a veterinary clinic who specializes in horse treatment.
