Avinza To Suboxone?

I've been taking 90mg Avinza twice daily for about 11 years, with the addition of percoset 5mg 2-4x a day over the last two years. I still couldn't sleepplus had major anxiety issues, and after trying Ambien (awful!), Klonopin, Xanax & other meds that made me brain dead the next day, I finally began using cannabis with great success. It even relieved my pain by making me stop focusing on it. Then I scored a 21 on a drug panel at pain mgmnt and now they are tapering me off morphine & cold turkey on percocet. I've taken it for a decade and I'm terrified because I know my body is addicted. I don't drink, I barely smoked cannabis but will continue to and I've never abused my meds, but I know it will be a hard transition. Do I need to find a doctor to write for suboxone to help the addiction and will it help with pain? Thank you so much. Namaste

Sorry to hear about your situation. That's just wrong how they can make a patient dependent on strong narcotics like Percocet and then turn around and cut you off completely years later, leaving you to deal with the withdrawals. Surely something's gotta give at some point in the pharmaceutical industry, because they do this to so many patients without realizing half the danger they put them through upon going cold-turkey like that.

I'm glad to hear that you're experiencing relief using cannabis though. That could end up making a big difference when it comes to keeping a positive frame of mind during a withdrawal period from those other meds. You could also try asking a doctor for suboxone if you feel that the cannabis isn't going to be enough on its own, but be aware that it can also cause withdrawals if you are ever cut off completely without any prior notice. And as far as suboxone providing pain relief, this is a topic that is often heavily debated in a lot of threads I've come across, since results tend to vary for each individual... though it is reported to have some level of analgesic effects.
