What is Asacort used for? I have lymphocytic colitis. I have heard people speak of this med as a treatment for it.

Hello, Janet! How are you?

Did you mean Asacol? It contains the active ingredient Mesalazine, which is sometimes used to treat this condition for people who don't respond to other treatments, such as antidiarrheal agents.

It is classified by the FDA as an anti-inflammatory and its typical side effects may possibly include stomach pain, cramping, fever, skin rash and weakness.
