No, they are not the same. Methadone is exactly that, it contains no other active ingredients.
Suboxone, however, contains Buprenorphine coupled with Naloxone to prevent the abuse of other opiates, while someone is under treatment with it.
The FDA classifies both as narcotic opiates that are most commonly used to treat drug addiction. They carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, drowsiness and constipation.
