Are The Negative Side Effects From Doxepin Permanent

I quit taking my doxepin cold turkey and I am wondering if the negative side effects from taking doxepin are permanent?

What type of negative side effects did you experience?

In theory, they should go away with time, but it may take several weeks, depending on how long you were taking it, according to the NIH. You may also experience some withdrawal effects, including headache, diarrhea, rebound depression and anxiety.

Hi Sean. I too took Doxepin, for about 2 solid months and then a couple times a week. I still woke up, ON 4 A Day ( 1 every 8hrs, then 1 8hrs later and 2 at bedtime!) throughout the night SEVERAL TIMES! I quit it cold turkey but had no problems, that I know of. Seeing as my Health is Severely Declining every 6mons-a year. I have 3 Gastric Diseases plus sooo many more. I'm a walking Health Hazard! But at 49, in jan 2018, I just found out I'm in severely low levels of estrogen. I thought/think I'm losing my mind! Maybe part is due to quitting the Doxepin Capsule. I need To Sleeeep! I had no idea, until now, this is an antidepressant too! I just got off those in mid-late 2017!, after 12 long years. These things are meant for a few mons, up to 1yr! (the Drs wouldn't take me off when I WANTED OFF!! A long time ago..) I sometimes wonder if it was the Effexor Xtd Release thar caused so much Havoc inside me. So I say to you and ro all... TRY MELATONIN!!! I use the liquid dropper bcuz of tummy diseases, but pills are the same. I do 2- 1mg droppers b4 bed just to try to get 4hrs of sleep.. its worked better than ANYTHING else especially if you are trying not to take Narcotics!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL! DON'T EVER TAKE ANY OPIODS IF YOU CAN FIGHT THROUGH THE PAIN. Or with pain relievers with little or no aspirin. The aspirin in Pain Meds Like= Vicodin, Percocet, Lortab Will Destroy Your Liver! I had to stop, in time, b4 it got my liver... But OPIODS, and I'm NO ADDICT, Are Not The Way To Go. If you wanna live long and happy with less sicknesses. I've been there and done this since mid 1999. Just trying to live life to the fullest & the Best way I could... I had a BAD ORTHOPEDIC BACK SURGEON WHO DESTOYED ME. Hence, the reason for narcotics. I fought the fight as long as I could then gave in.. I was/am in constant Pain. But I try not to show 1 bit of it. So keep your heads up everyone! I wouldn't of made it without them but not for years on end. I'd go cold turkey off them. I was/am Strong but you cannot beat Opiods cold turkey like I could the others.. I'm just trying to save anyone, 1 person, or everyone, from the death of opiods and what they do to your insides and your mind. I'm like a Cancer Patient, my Pain is that bad. But I'm trying to get off slowly myself. I'm DONE WITH MEDS!! FOR PAIN. Though I don't know if I'll make it long... GOOD LUCK SEAN AND EVERYONE WHO READS THIS. Just fyi n Tips you need to know.

The aspirin will hurt your stomach (it’s an NSAID) and the acetaminophen in Percocet and Vicodin will hurt your liver.
Melatonin can cause headache and nausea. I wanted it to work for me but it made my head hurt so much I couldn’t continue.
I thought I should mention it since you said you have stomach issues.
