Angina, Vascular, Isosorbide, Lossrtan And Metropolol

Terrible angina on minor exertion. Legs need cat scan for vascular blockage. Isosorbide 30mg helps angina for 12-15 hours then I might need a small nitro tablet. Also the isosorbide has made my blood pressure perfect. This after a four year battle just taking 25 mg metropolol twice a day a 50 mg of losartan once. My question, do I need to take the losartan and metropolol anymore? I also take plavix. You should know that my problems started four years ago when a drugstore BP machine indicated my BP was high. My doctor at the time prescribed hydrochlorothorazide and lisinopril. four days later I was in the emergency room with fried kidneys. In summary, the two aforementioned drugs, and amlodipine, clonidine damn near killed me. I wouldn’t give them to a dog. After two years of this, my kidney doctor put me on metropolol and losartan and this has just moderately controlled BP. But, I have stents and damage has been done. My heart is still strong, but vascularly I’m shot and can’t walk very far. The cat scan using “CO2” is set for next week. If I can get my legs back I’ll be rockin again and back to work. I’m 80. Don’t give up and so far Isosorbide has really made me feel better. Thank you.

How are you doing, now? What showed up on the CT scan?

As to continuing to take the medications, you should follow your doctor's instructions, since there is a chance that the combination of them is the only thing keeping your condition under control. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.

What conditions are your kidneys in? It would not be normal for these medications to cause such damage so fast, but we are all different. Are these the only medications you take?
