Amlod/benazp And Cartilage Pain?

My husband has been taking amlod/benazp for hypertension. He also has lost most of the cartilage in one hip, which gives him MUCH pain, especially with prolonged sitting/getting up. He is on an anti-inflammatory, and recently discovered his Vit D is extremely low, and has been supplementing that. He forgot his b/p pill 3 days ~ bad boy! And noticed his hip pain was significantly less. Could the Calcium inhibitor in amlod somehow cause some of the cartilage pain?

Yes, it is possible that these medications could be having an effect. Joint and muscle pain are well-known side effects of most blood pressure medications.

this site is not, however, medical professionals, so I can only tell you that listed side effects, so he should speak to his doctor as soon as possible to see if it is the medication or a worsening of his condition.

I can also speak from experience, having tried several BP meds, such as Metoprolol and most have given me severe aches and pains to the point where I had to stop taking them and can no longer be prescribed a lot of them.

Read more on the medication here:

Is there anything else I can help you with?
