my mum of 85 has been put on these tablets 10 mg yesterday for anxiety,doctor said they werent addictive, but been told that they are.

Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that can also help with anxiety and, as such, not it is not addictive.

Her body will get used to having them, if she takes them for a long period of time and if she were to stop suddenly, she could experience some minor withdrawal and rebound symptoms, but they will not cause the addiction and withdrawal like someone would experience from a narcotic.
